Dr. Michael P. Mcdermott, MD

Waited two weeks to be seen after experiencing pain, cruciating pain and requested a cortisone shot and denied. Told to exercise. Great if I could. Felt if I didn't have a broken bone, or injured self running a marathon then it was not serious enough to him. 4 x-rays later and 10 minutes of his non concern time wasted. Can't wait to get the bill that I will dispute.

I have had three encounters with Dr. McDermott. Broken elbow, Broken knee, and "trigger finger". All separate occasions. Dr. McDermott explored all remedies before requiring any surgeries. Thankfully, time and therapies prevented surgery. I found the good Doctor to a good listener, and patient. Would not hesitate to have Dr. McDermott perform surgery if he deemed it necessary.

Dr. McDermott treated my daughter for a soccer injury. He was extremely patient with my daughter, and he made great efforts to get to know her personality so he would understand her injury better (she has an extremely high pain tolerance ... making her injury seem less serious than it actually was). He was very professional every step of the way and more thorough than any other medical care provider I have ever encountered. Dr. McDermott's follow up care was beyond comparison. I wouldn't recommend anyone OTHER than Dr. McDermott to anyone seeking treatment.

Disappointed. I don't believe he read my file. He suggested a strong shot that my records clearly reveal cause a serious reaction to other meds I'm on. He had a difficult time believing me, which felt first, that he did not care at all about my well being, and second, put me in a position of having to defend myself. My primary doc sent me to him to order an MRI so he could seek a diagnosis. Dr. McD promptly have me x-rayed for a hip replacement, which was not remotely an option. He walked into the room declaring I had arthritis, needed hip replacement and wanted to give me this huge shot. The purpose of the shot, he said, was to make me feel really good for about 12 hours. If the shot worked, he then stated that's how great I would feel with a hip replacement. I had a similar X-ray less than 6 months ago-- my bones looks strong, good distance apart (bone not remotely rubbing on bone) and mild arthritis that is common in anyone my age. Until I suffered two injuries in the past 2… years, I have never had pain anywhere. There are many other options for a different, much less invasive procedure-- including diet & exercise--acupunture-- phyysical therapy & massage...many choices...which is why I found this doctor's approach very self interested and not patient friendly at all. No, I did not get the shot that he strongly recommended. Be careful if you go see him. Unless you know for a fact you need a hip replacement, find a different orthopedic doc.

I was hit by a car late one Saturday night and I am so thankful Dr. McDermott was on-call! He has been wonderful to me and I couldn't have asked for a better, more honest and down to earth doctor!

went to him for 2nd opinion after dr. charles j taunt jr wrecked my arm and all he was concerned with was why i didn't want to deal with taunt again, he evaded my questions and treated me like i had no right to ask anything, he and dr taunt seem to have extreme messiah complexes and treat their patients like garbage

after sergery if you have concerns about infection make sure to get a second opinion
