He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Summa Health in Ohio where he was awarded Chief Resident. Dr. McKernan earned his Doctoral Degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and his Master of Science in Biomedical Science was earned at the University of Toledo College of Graduate Studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. McKernan received the 2021 AOA C. McCollister Evarts Leadership Award and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
