Dr. Michael J. Melgar, MD

Dr Melgar has amazing bedside Manor. Tells the truth and is not hesitant to think outside the traditional medical philosophies. You can converse with him about absolutely any medical questions.

Switched to Dr. Melgar from my previous doctor about 5 -7 years ago and couldn't be happier. Grant doctor, came recommended by another doctor. Never had an issue with him, just the billing department. They seem to use the wrong code when billing my insurance company and also submit services late, which as you can imagine lead to numerous phone calls by me to the doctor's billing dept and my insurance company. Overall im satisfied. Even brought my boyfriend there when he kept complaining about his stomach. Dr. Melgar examined him for 10 minutes and sent him straight to the ER at North Shore, apparently his appendix was about to burst. Highly recommended. Great doc :)

I haven't been to this doctor in a few years but whenever we talk about really bad doctors in our house his name comes up. If you want someone to ignore your symptoms, misdiagnose you and land you in the ER, this is your man.

I have been coming to see Dr. Melgar for years now and he's the absolute best doctor, I recommend him to everyone. Although he's joining NYU this fall, I'm happy that some of his staff is going with him, especially Asha. I think the rude staff mentioned by another poster was directed toward the nurse. She can be very short and rolls her eyes a lot.

I have been to this office several times. Dr Melgar is always happy to go over my diagnosis and give me options. I have to say that my experience with his staff has been excellent. They always bend over backwards to help me and have been nothing but courteous. I would definitely recommend this office to freinds and family and I have.

I have been going to Dr. Melgar since he started his practice. He actually treated my dad first . I was so impressed with the way he treated my "aged dad", that he became my doctor. He is so kind. Takes his time and returns calls if I have a concern or question. The most time that I've had to wait in the waiting room is 10 minutes, if that. I can't say enough about Dr. Melgar. I hope he never retires. And, Sharon is a doll!

Doctor Melgar takes care of me, my kids and my parents as well as several of my freinds. his diagnoses have always been spot on. When we need a specialist he always seems to know the best doctors. The main reason we all see him is because of the time he spends to explain things. I have never met another doctor who cares enough to try and educate the way he does. he really wants you to understand what he's recomending and why. In addition he is compulsive about making sure you get your results. My previous doctor would just say no news is good news but doctor melgar insists that we get our results even if they are all normal. That may be why he sometimes has his secretary call since they contact every patient who has a test, but anytime we have had a serious problem he has always called me himself. our family is lucky to have found doctor melgar.. all three generations of us

I went to Dr. Melgar with chronic symptoms and he misdiagnosed me. I continued to suffer severely for weeks and then I finally went to an urgent care facility because things got so bad. They were stunned that he totally missed my problem. They prescribed the appropriate medication and a week later, I feel better. Needless to say, I will never go back to this doctor nor would I recommend him to anyone.

Dr Melgar is great with diagnosis. He takes time to listen to your symptoms and he usually has a correct diagnosis. He carefully explaines why and how. However i find it very upsetting that he has his staff call and follow up with the patients about thier diagnosis. His staff is extremely rude, especially Jennifer. Please Dr Melgar, get nicer staff!

I have been coming to this office for over ten years. Dr. Melgar has always been extremely caring and very attentive. He spends a lot of time explaining things that other doctor just gloss over. I have always been treated very respectfully by his staff. He did have an office manager who could be rough at times. I mentioned it to him and on my next visit she apologized so i know he spoke to her. Anyway she's not working there any more and I can't say enough about the remaining staff. They have jumped through hoops to help me with my insurance company. Like I;ve said I have been seeing Dr. Melgar for 10 years. I only hope he's around as long as I am
