I have been patient of Dr. Merkey for 2 years. I have had Parkinson for 8 years and been to many doctors all over the world. During these years, I also have tried alternative medicine . Dr. Merkey has been the best Dr. that I have visited and I have been treated with respect and patience . All the staff from the front desk to nurse are very helpful. Dr. Merkey is very knowledgeable and he listens and observes everything. He is very patient and does not rush the session. He rather look at the patient information on his laptop than in their eyes but I assure you that he listens and pays attention to every piece of information he is given. He is definitely a Dr. to go for getting the accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

After complaining to my PCM at Tinker about lingering problems from a but with Medicine Induced Movement Disorder, the Doctor (not my usual doctor he'd of said I was fine) got me a referral to a Neurologist. It took 2 months to get into Dr. Merkey's office but once I was there, it seemed like he had all the answers to all the random medical problems I had! I hadn't intended on telling him about the issues I'd been having since 2010 with various systems of the body (bladder problems, heart problems and GI problems) I'd just planned on the brain problems because I was going into the disorder often and on meds that had never even had that type of problem show up before. He told me after several mins of thinking that he believed I had something called Somatization Disorder and that was why I was having all these problems but all my tests kept coming back Normal. He ordered an MRI and EEG and since those came back normal is sending me on to a specialist to further my evaluation. So he's not… warm and fuzzy but I feel like he cares and has called me personally about my results. But a few things I'd change is he talks too low so I can barely hear him and I end up calling back because I come up with questions later because it's not explained to me where I can understand it.

Dr, Merkey failed to find a 17mm cyst, obviously visible in 3 MRIs over 6 years. He told me my siezures were anxiety attacks. On the first visit to a 2nd Nuerologist, he found it just by glancing at the MRI.

He has moved to Norman. Bedside manner is nonexistent, but his skills in diagnosis are beyond question. Dx'd my problem in minutes--after I'd gone years trying to find a doctor who could tell me the problem.

He thought I had a mini stroke. After several months and 8 MRIs later he still didn't realize I was still numb on left side It was because I had a stroke not a mini stroke. I told him I had the mini stroke weeks before when I first went to him. He just does not listen or care. You can not call him, only the head nurse who would be fried any where else. No more visits, finding a real doctor

Dr. Merkey.. I don't know exactly what happened today, but I have never been so poorly treated in all of my 58 years of life by a doctor before. You wrote me off and had decided that I was anxious (your words) and needed to see a psychiatrist. I went in with real symptoms. I didn't need you to treat CFS, but to just treat me as a patient with pain in my knuckles and feet. How in the world, in 2009, can you know so little about CFS anyway. You should at least read up on the latest research by renowned Harvard Doctors. You probably read one article many years ago about CFS and depression, but the facts are clear that CFS patients score far different than depressed patients. In fact, a Dr. Duffy, a Harvard Neurologist, has just published a paper saying that he has been able to cull out by looking at the brain, with 90 % accuracy, those people with CFS from those with either depression or good health. So,,, good Doctor, do no harm, which is what you did to me today. Thank you.. You… were a gem...

Dr. Merkey acted as if my side effects and diagnosis were of no concern to him. I continued to have problems after his original diagnosis and gave no answers, explaination, or reasoning for my concerns. Instead he ordered MORE tests to be conducted and gave me a prescription for a medication that is under investigation due to a lawsuit. Dr. Merkey talks fast, interrupts often, disregards patient concerns, and is disrespectful to his patients. His reception staff is rude and difficult on the phone. Dr. Merkey is not speedy in returning phone calls or attending to patients on the phone. I am actively seeking a new doctor and will not be returning to Dr. Merkey again.
