He is one of the best doctors I have experienced. I came in to see him when I was 7 and he talked to me and explained everything that was going on and how he was going to fix it. I had Arnold-Chiari malformation and went in for surgery 3 days after they figured it out. 12 years later I haven’t had any problems. Strongly recommend him!

Dr. Muhonen is an amazing physician. He was expert in placing a shunt in my brain, but besides that he was incredibly kind, made the explanation of the diagnosis, what was needed, and what he could do totally understandable. He was absolutely honest in explaining the possible outcome, even to suggesting percentages of possibilities. He answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable with him.

Careless and incompetent. Misdiagnosed my son and recommended immediate surgery. Got a second opinion with Dr. Mark Kreiger at CHLA. He determined she had a abscess in his sinuses and NOT a tumor. Treatment was IV antibiotics x

Dr. Muhonnen is a great dr and someone that I consider like a second father to me. See, I was his patient in 1998 and 99 and he helped me get through some very frustrating years. I had a Baclofen pump and he treated me . I never forgot him for his excellent bedside manner and thanks to him my brother is now a dr in the ER. I think I speak for both of us when I say part of the reason that happened was because of him.

Said my daughter needed emergency brain surgery. We had her transferred to CHLA. She had meningitis and needed antibiotics and not surgery on her brain'

I was diagnosed with a very rare brain tumor. Dr Muhonen was amazingly compassionate which we had never received in the past. I have since moved out of state but go back for follow ups just to stay under is caring care. He will be the only won to open this brain. Don't go to anybody else I have and I will save you the time and heartbreak. Dr. Muhonen is your best choice for a loving,compassion and tries to find other ways than jumping right to surgery! I can't say enough about how amazing of a doctor and human being he is. He's loved by my whole family!
