Dr. Michael John Murray, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Murray for roughly eight years. He has always shown professionalism and genuinely listens to the concerns of his patients. I trust him as a doctor as well as his opinions and advice; he's also the doctor of my two sons. I recommend him to everyone looking for a primary care physician.

Dr. Murray is, in my estimation, a throwback to my childhood; his personality, office mileau and style of treatment, including office equipment etc, is traditional, if not antiquated. Expect a cursory check-up, with much time spent on his computer, checking meds you may need. Often, he is at a disadvantage with his diagnosis, and seems at times, to "experiment" with a medication to prescribe. Prescriptions seem almost by trial-and-error, which is not atypical,but owing to this, and his very limited office equipment, expect a few visits to nail down a diagnosis, or, perhaps worse, a referral for what may not be a more in-depth assessment, the appointment taking several weeks. Not good if you are ill, feverish, in pain. As i said, he has virtually no in-office sophisticated equipment, so his diagnosis seems to be statistical, what you have is analyzed by likelihood, and thus you are treated. A friendly man, you get the feeling you are speaking with a friend, but there lies the rub;… the trade off is that you receive antiquated service with a friendly physician. You do not receive any impression that he is current with latest medical news, current meds, or even what to do until he spends half the office visit on the computer. Advice: try to get to a more qualified specialist if you have that coverage; generally you can narow down your diagnosis just by the symptoms, unless, of course, you like the old-fasioned office, talk, and the requisite referral a few weeks down the road. You WILL receive exactly you anticipate, once you view the office, equipment, computer review of meds, and the sense he lacks the confidence to nail down a diagnosis. The requisite referral will disappoint/frustrate, particularly if you have limited money, timeor are in discomfort. Finally, should you need a prescription, beware; he calls them in after 4:30 or 5PM, when, in my case, the pharmacy is closed. Not good if you have an infection, or are in pain. I checked off 2 stars for Accurate Diagnosis,because he hold off on this often and instead makes a referral; FRUSTRATING.

Still went to him even after he left his state college office and stayed in reedsville full-time. great doctor & great staff!
