Dr. Michael Noel Neely, MD

Dr. Neely completed a double fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Clinical Pharmacology in 2002 at Rainbow Babies & ChildrenÂ’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. His research and clinical interests are in the optimization of therapy for infectious diseases, specifically invasive fungal infections, and more recently HIV. Working with multidisciplinary faculty collaborators in the Keck School of MedicineÂ’s Departments of Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine, as well as in the School of Pharmacy, he has recently completed his novel GCRC-funded pilot study to use random drug levels as a means to monitor adherence in HIV-infected children, adolescents and pregnant women. Dr. Neely is currently applying for federal funding to investigate the effect of pharmacogenetic and pharmacoproteomic factors on the response to antiretroviral therapy. With expertise in computerized drug-response modeling, he is applying his research interests to the care of his patients by launching the first …HIV therapeutic drug monitoring clinic at LAC+USC.
