Dr. Michael Carl Nicoson, MD

Absolutely the best. Office staff and nurses/assistants are smart, responsive, friendly, efficient and skilled in their work. Pre-visit communications were clear. Dr. Nicoson is an excellent clinician and surgeon and his office runs like clock work.

Do not see this doctor for anything that resulted from a car accident. You will kust be wasting your money and time.

Dr. Nicoson was rude and obviously had an issue from something he had been told by someone. I have never met this doctor before so I am assuming something in previous doctor notes predisposed him to disregard my issue and prior advice givem to me from a previous doctor. I do not know of any issues I've had with any previous doctors. No issues whatsoever in any way. So his attitude and demeanor was very very stand offish and he pretty much did what he needed to get me out the door as fast as he could. I've never been so confused in my life.

I went to see Dr. Nicoson for a 2nd opinion after hurting my wrist in a car accident several months ago. Upon coming in he had a nurse stay to witness the appt I guess. He was apprehensive and very curt when answering my questions. After being told by one hand doctor that he didn't operate on what I had wrong and giving me NO other info I left confused and sought out an opinion from Kleinert & Kutz with a Doctor Farner. Dr. Farner had told to seek another opinion which led me to Hand and wrist with Dr. Nicoson. Immediately when the Dr walked in I could see and feel the tension in the room. I am not sure what it is or what could be the issue. Dr. Nicoson was very short with amswers to questions that I had. He did say that the first hand doctor with Louisville arm and Hand had notes in my chart saying he didn't recommend surgery. That is something that the doc at Louisville arm and Hand never said to me. Quite frankly he didn't not say anything other than he doesn't do the surgery… required for my wrist. I had to prod answers to questions about it healing on its own and what I should do. And with basically no amswers from him I walked out confused and frustrated. Dr. Nicoson wasn't at all interested in learning what I have been told thus far from the other doctors but had no problem telling me what they had written in their notes. I felt as if there is had been relayed to him that made him disinterested altogether and I had no idea how to address it. I felt as if I was under a microscope of suspicion and that there is some underlying information that I am not being made aware of. He did recommend surgery since the accident was several months ago, regardless that I had been following the first doctors advice to wait several months to have an MRI of the problem did not subside. Honesty is a must between a doctor and patient. And Dr. Nicoson attitude and advise was definitely affected by whatever it is. The problem is the refuse to tell you these things and instead leave you in the dark. His rematks that I was basically doctor shopping for surgery is assinying. I was following Kleinert &Kutz direction to get another opinion. I felt he couldn't get out of that room quick enough. And I still would like to know why he had a nurse stay in the room while we talked about this. Of course from his mood I wasn't about to ask, it was clear he did not want me there.

Dr. Nicoson, my experience with your office was very good. Would you please tell your physical therapist that the splint is working well it helped when the swelling went down. I would certainly be very happy to refer other people to your office for the condition that I have.

dr nicoson provides great service. he is very good at explaining your problems and how to fix them. the whole staff in the office does a great job supporting dr nicoson. they really treat you like a friend!!!

I went here for wrist and thumb pain. After a couple of visits and injections that didn’t help it was recommended that I have a tendon release surgery. I had the surgery, which was suppose to be minor. Following the surgery I was in excruciating pain. When the bandage came off my wrist was discolored and I was still in excruciating pain. The doctor actually said he didn’t know why my wrist was discolored. I called and emailed the office about the pain and discoloration because it kept getting worse. The staff were not very responsive when I contacted. The doctor ended up calling in a steroid because he said I had dermatitis from the s pain you can imagine. After several tests, MRIs and seeing an experienced hand specialist it was determined that 1. I had bad nerve damage from the minor tendon release surgery and 2. I had a fractured scaphoid. The nerve damage was so bad a neuroma had formed. My scaphoid fracture had went undiagnosed so long it had avascular necrosis. The tendon release… surgery which caused so much nerve damage wasn’t even necessary. I ended up having to have the neuroma removed and having a bone graft to help with the avascular necrosis.

Dr Nicoson quickly and accurately diagnosed and treated my trigger thumb. He gave me a shot of steroids, which in my case was helpful to ease the movement almost immediately. I was very pleased that Dr Nicoson showed me the x-ray of my hand and he pointed out where the problem lay with my joint (arthritis & worn out cartilage) along with a diagram which showed the parts of the hand and the areas of it which were causing the problem. Dr Nicoson recommended a shot of steroid, which I agreed to. It was administered quickly with little to no discomfort. People had warned me that the shot would be painful, but it wasn't. I am looking forward to seeing how the shot will help my thumb ongoing.

I had both hands done 6 months apart and both surgeries went very well and I’d recommend him to anyone. I’ve been to a moderate amount of doctors, and you know how some doctors make you think it’s all in your head? NOT Dr. Nicoson, he understands that pain is real and tries to alleviate it ASAP. He stays pretty booked, but when you call in advance and have future appointments, his scheduling is fairly flexible.
