Dr. Michael Leon Nochomovitz, MD

Dr. Michael L. Nochomovitz is the President of University Hospitals Physician Services (UHPS). This new entity for University Hospitals (UH) brought together for the first time, the management of the 1500 employed physicians and 2500 clinical and support staff in the fulltime academic medical practice at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, and the community based multi-specialty physician network throughout Northeast Ohio. UHPS also oversees a Corporate health entity which includes employee health for the15,000 employees of the health system as well as contracted services for over 1300 other businesses in Northeast Ohio. Dr. Nochomovitz also oversees a regional urgent care network, retail clinics, hospitalist programs, an Executive Medicine program and the UH Connor Integrative Medicine Network.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nochomovitz served as the president and chief medical officer of University Hospitals Medical Practices (UHMP) and University Hospitals Management Services …Organization (UHMSO) since 1997. In that position he was the architect of the University Hospitals regional, multi-specialty, physician network throughout Northeast Ohio developed largely through acquisition which has become the major portal of entry for business into the regional health system. He developed a nationally recognized model of physician practice management which included early introduction of office-based electronic prescribing, practice standards in diabetic care, an electronic office platform and risk management incentives for physicians.
Dr. Nochomovitz has served on the Board of Directors of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), the Board of Governors of the American College of Chest Physicians and on the Medical Advisory of The Doctors Company (TDC). He has also served on the Board of Directors of Qualchoice Inc., and Western Reserve Assurance (Cayman). As a faculty member in the Case Western Reserve University, he worked in Pulmonary Medicine where his work focused on chronic breathing disorders and the development of an artificial pacing system for breathing with intramuscular electrodes which was the forerunner of the system in use today. He has published numerous papers and contributed to a number of books.
