Dr. Michael Patrick Owen, MD

have a family member up here with a berry aneurism but dr. owen had a run-in with cocaine years ago and i worry that mom may have a bad outcome? she thinks he is the only neurosurgeon around so ---- the rest of the family is not sure.

Dr. Owen is the most professional doctor I’ve ever worked with. Every surgery was a resounding successful. Dr Owen has followed me for years and helped me when ever I needed it. An excellent surgeon

I wouldn't be here without Dr. Owen. I have been able to see my sons grow up and now enjoy my grandson because of Dr. Owen's fantastic skills. He was in NY back then and he will always be my hero. I was so lucky to have him as I came out of it with a few quirks. Have worked and done all the things they thought I might not without a day of rehab. He will always be my hero and his bedside manner and talking to me really helped in the recovery. He had a great staff. I would highly recommend him as he was wonderful to me and I am here to see how wonderfully my sons have grown up to be wonderful men.

I happened to find out this aspect about Dr. Owen(through doctor/patient interaction over long period of time), and I feel obliged to let people know. In short, he is almost a genius, if not genius. In addition, he cares about patients very deeply, and practices medicine with utmost sincerity, passion and professionalism only to help the patients. Other doctors often recommend expensive surgeries that are not necessary (I consulted a few) to make profit, but Dr. Owen never recommends unnecessary surgeries. He is such an honest person that I trust his professional opinion without doubt. He literally saved me, and my family from great pain, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially and now i can lead a normal happy life with my family. I am forever grateful. I (and my daughter as well) were once suffered from bad unfounded public comments written by jealous people and bullies. He is integrity itself that I strongly believe that any kind of bad comments on him is … nothing but lies. Shame on them...

I truly believe that I am only able to run and play with my children, because of Dr. Owen. Three years ago an MRI showed that I required emergency surgery to prevent paralysis. I had never met or spoken with Dr. Owen, but he agreed to fly to the hospital I was at and perform emergency surgery. The hospital contacted him at approximately 3pm and I was in surgery by 6pm. Three years later I continue to feel wonderful. My back pain, which had lasted a year, was immediately relieved. I have had no problems since. I'm a 34 year old active mom of two. These days I workout hard to ensure I remain in the best of health, but I truly believe that I never would have had this chance if not for Dr. Owen. I will forever be thankful.

Terrible Doctor!

When scheduling a surgery, choosing your doctor is probably the single most important decision. My cousin chose Dr. Owen for a neck surgery hoping to relieve the constant neck pain she endured. She was looking forward to life after surgery with no pain. Aside from her neck pain, she was completely healthy. Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong. She suffered a stroke and passed away shortly after the surgery. She was only 53. Now I understand that there are no guarantees with any surgery, but when you find out later that the Doctor was not around and could not be reached when all this was occuring was quite unsettling. Perhaps if he had been around she might have been moved to a Stroke Center for treatment in time to save her. Even more alarming was his extremely defensive and dismissive behavior when the family asked questions. It is likely we will never know precisely what happened, but there are enough issues surrounding this Doctor that should make anyone wary of… enlisting his services. Obviously it is too late for my cousin but perhaps we can prevent such unspeakable heartache for another family. She was my cousin, but was really so much more like a sister. I miss her terribly. I strongly suggest you do your own research and make a fully informed decision before choosing a surgeon.

My sister Glenda Richardson had surgery on her discs located in neck area. She was suppose to go in for one night, she died 5 days later. He had no idea what when wrong. She had a stroke and would not move her to a stroke unit in Syracuse because he did not like the hospital. He said they wouldn't do any better job then he was doing. Never was around and would not return phone calls. Very volatile.Never showed up when he ordered her to be taken of respirator. He more or less let her die without getting help for her.

Dr. Owen is soley responsible for me being able to fulfill my dream of continuing to teach children. I had a horrible disk herniation. Dr. Owen was sent my films and in fact scheduled an appointment for me on a day not typically set for seeing patients. He met with me and was very candid with me regarding the urgency of me having surgery. I had insurance concerns but Dr. Owen told me that he would help me with the process but most importantly, would not turn me away for lack of insurance. That day, he changed my world. I went from being unable to walk and care for myself at the age of 35 to becoming an active fully functioning person again. It's been 14 years now and I still give thanks at the end of each day for him. He is more than a doctor. Dr. Owen is a kind and compassionate person whom I believed was called upon by God to help me when I thought my life as I knew it was over.

Would not recommend this Doctor.Terrible Doctor.Not around when needed to have questions answered.
