Dr. Michael Lee Owens, MD

My daughter was having her third surgery which is when we were fortunate to have met Dr. Owens. Unfortunately immediately after her first surgery in 2014, she developed Vocal Cord Dysfunction which was brought on by the 2014 anesthesiologist either using too large of tubes to anesthesize or by scraping her vocal cords! I cannot tell you the problems this caused in my daughters life as she had so many complications breathing and thinking she was going to die, she developed PTSD and was suicidal! Dr. Owens came in prior to her last surgery and explained what the first anesthesiologist had done wrong to cause the VCD and then explained to us how extra careful he would be with our daughter! Dr. Owens assured us that he is always extra cautious to avoid scraping her vocal cords and promised he would use smaller tubes as she is so petite. Thank you Dr. Owens for listening to our concerns, explaining how you would avoid making the mistakes others had made, and for making not only my husband… and I feel comfortable but for making our terrified daughter feel safe knowing she was in your care during the surgery! You are a wonderful doctor and kind man, and good luck with your second baby on the way! We thoroughly enjoyed talking with you prior to Anna’s surgery!!!
