Dr. Michael Joseph Pattillo, MD

This man clearly knows how to communicate and relate to his patients in a way I have never before experienced. His profession suits his social and intellectual abilities well. I would highly recommend his attention and care if you have small children or even teenagers. His ability to connect with his patients and plainly relate the diagnosis was extremely helpful in my stressful situation.

We have been taking our four kids to Dr. Pattillo since 2003 when our preferred pediatrician stopped her general pediatric practice and became a pediatric oncologist. We absolutely loved her so Dr. Pattillo had some pretty big shoes to fill, which he has not. done. He can be incredibly condescending and self-righteous. We both work full time so managing four kids can be a struggle. We know we don't take them in enough, but knowing you're going to be treated like a clueless negligent parent doesn't exactly make you want to make an appointment. When I see him outside of the office he never even acknowledges that he recognizes me and I know he does. I get it that as a Doctor you don't want to give "free" medical advice to parents when you see them on the street, but is a nod or a smile too much to ask? He obviously thinks we are the worst parents ever and he makes that very clear with his dismissive attitude every time we bring them in. I am a mother of four. I've been around the… block, and yet he still treats us like we are absolutely clueless. Sorry, but no, I am not clueless. I may be busy, but I am not a horrible parent. He sure it good at making me feel that way every time I walk out of his office. I've had enough of the attitude. After this most recent appointment we are done.

I have been with Dr. Pattillo since my son was born. That's been over 11 years now. He started out as my son's doctor and now I go to him too. After seeing asthma and allergy specialists when my son was 3, Dr. Pattillo was the doctor that managed to get it under control. I agree with some of the other comments about feeling rushed, but I think that is the atmosphere of the office because they are always packed and the wait time can be long. But once I'm in with the doctor, he takes time to answer any questions I have including asking about my son during my own visits. I have been in for emergency visits (asthma problems and I didn't know what to do but I didn't want to go to the emergency room first) and been seen immediately by the doctor. I started with Dr. Pattillo because he was the first doctor I found that was accepting new patients when I was pregnant and looking for a pediatrician, but I've stayed with him because he takes great care of us.

I am on this site looking for a new pediatrician, so I figured I'd share my experience. I have frustrations about calls not being returned and a general feeling that we are just a time slot that needs to be rushed through to get to the next patient. I'm a first time mother and my baby is sick for the first time - I called to make an appointment or get advice and after calling up 3 times (across 6 hours) I finally speak to someone who tells me to take care of it at home, or if it's bad, go to the ER! Gee - thank you! So glad that I have a pediatrician! Ugh. Dr Patillo seems nice, but I'm looking for a new dr who might care and follow up.

I Am a first time mom so going to a pediatrician I expected they would help me through knowing the signs of things I should get my baby checked for, but instead they look at me like I'm freaking stupid for freaking out over something. I don't know what to ask them half the time I'm a new mommy and getting the hang of being a parent. They don't really help you with anything they do their quick check up ask you If you have any questions and send you on your way . I don't know if I'm supposed to start tummy time, or anything else cause they don't offer advice like most kind doctors do they just want you in and out. The one thing I do find nice is when my sons hungry they let me use a room so I can feed him before I leave. The nurses I have had were nice , but I'm beginning to second guess my decision of taking my baby to dr. Patillo he also hasn't been there for a while I had to see other doctors , and they seemed to be more helpful then he has been this whole time. He is nice don't get… me wrong but he seems to just want you gone the second you come in and that's hard when your a first time momma and are trying to learn everything.

The office staff are rude, they are unorganized and never call you back. On several occasions we have called to talk to a nurse and either never got a call back or on the rare case that we did it was 2 days later. Also the staff do not know how to complete referrals so good luck getting anywhere even if you do manage to get the Dr to give you one. As a parent when you ask a serious question about your child welfare you would expect to be taken seriously but the Dr exhibits an attitude like you should know this what are you stupid? And any issue that comes up is just normal they will grow out of it. Perhaps that fact that my child experienced multiple A.L.T.E. and the Dr just shrugged it off made me loose faith in him. I contacted a specialist myself and found that my child did have problems that should have been addressed immediately and Dr Pattillo couldn't seem to care less. Remember there is no substitute for a mothers intuition. We are currently seeking a new ped.
