Dr. Michael P Pennachio, MD

I found Dr. Pennachio because I passed by his office in Clermont and he also was on my list that accepted my insurance. Dr. Pennachio was patient and kind. I had been told about 2 years ago that I had the beginnings of two different kinds of cataracts in both eyes. It seems they advanced quickly within the past 5 months. Suddenly, my most recent prescription glasses were not working at all. I am a musician and typically have two pair, one for every day and one for the distance to the music stand. Dr. Pennachio understood this and explained that it would be useless to attempt to prescribe lenses until I had my cataract corrected as I was in such an advanced state. I struggled through a month of rehearsals and concerts and scheduled the first surgery. The improvement in that eye was immediate! I was able to schedule the 2nd eye two weeks later! I now have nearly 20/20 distance vision. The staff/those who help determine prescriptions were very patient as we determined the lenses needed to… get the distance to the music stand. It isn't the same as a computer. After a couple of adjustments in my every day and music glasses which were corrected by the staff with no problem or additional cost, I am pleased as can be! Prior to seeing Dr. Pennachio and his staff I had just had an unpleasant experience at an optometrist in Leesburg. I actually left in the middle of the appointment. He then told my husband that my cataract was really bad and I should get to an ophthalmologist however he failed to even mention that to me. He was just rude when I struggled with the exam. I believe he would have finished the exam and attempted to prescribe lenses which is what I did NOT need.

From the time my appointment was made, the staff was so helpful from directions to the office to what I needed to bring with me. The staff was punctual, professional, courteous, caring and competent. This was my first experience since moving to Florida from Michigan and I found Dr. Pennachio and his staff much more professional and caring than the doctors I saw in Michigan. I am a veteran of a very negative and discouraging experience with a rather well known cataract treatment center in the Mt. Dora area. After relating my unpleasant experience to a friend of mine, he recommended Dr. Pennachio as an alternative stating that Dr. Pennachio had done his cataract surgery and that he was well pleased with the results as well as the overall atmosphere of the office. I went to Dr. Pennachio’s office and I was delightfully pleased with the experience. I found the one on one personal care that I was seeking. The office atmosphere is friendly and professional. The support staff is very concerned that you feel comfortable and assured and that all of your questions are answered. They take their time with you and there is no sense of being rushed or handed off to various care givers. I had sent my medical history from the previous office to Dr. Pennachio, so he was right up to speed on my condition and my needs and he quickly explained a plan of treatment and… answered all of my questions in a very professional manner. My surgeries went extremely well and as of this writing I am enjoying restored vision and look forward to a continuing relationship with Dr. Pennachio and his office. Bottom line is this. You need to have trust and confidence in your doctor, especially when it comes to something as precious and vital to your life as your vision. Dr. Pennachio is an extremely brilliant physician who deserves that trust and confidence. I highly recommend Dr. Pennachio and his office to anyone seeking quality eye care. He truly is THE BEST.
