Dr. Michael Jon Platto, MD

I have received treatment by Dr. Platto for my neck and shoulder pain. Sometimes the pain and muscle spasms are so terrible that trigger point injections are the only thing that helps. The spasms are so bad they cause migraine headaches. Dr. Platto is spot on every time with the trigger point injections! Always makes a great improvement and he reminds me of proper stretching to help, not hinder my pain relief progress.

Act like he wanted to help, but then very little followup or postponed.

If you want to be medicated properly, choose a Dr. that is Board Certified in Pain Management...this guy is NOT. Also, if you want an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, see someone else. This guy refused to do a bone scan I asked for and said my symptoms are psychosomatic. I've seen a new Dr., who did the scan and said my bones are so bad they look like those of a patient 20 years older than me, and we're trying bilateral facet blocks to treat the pain. Platto also said I have mild neuropathy in my arm caused by ulnar entrapment, and told me not to lean on that arm. My new Dr. said it's not mild (worse than mild), and recommended surgery, which was only about 70% successful because I waited almost a year to have it thanks to Platto not letting me know that there was a surgical option. He's completely negligent. He also was trying to tell me about Naloxone, but kept calling it Naltrexone...2 different medications, and when I corrected him, he argued with me like a 4 year old,… insisting they're the same thing. They're not...one blocks, one reverses opioids. I'm a recovering addict, and he refused to prescribe me Percocet, and would only prescribe me Opana. Luckily I have significant clean time and am confident in being able to take medication as prescribed, which is the only reason I took it, and did fine, and am off of them now. I was a heroin addict and did NOT start with pills. In my opinion, 95% of addicts would relapse with this medication. He should not be prescribing narcotics, or practicing medicine in my opinion. There are other physiatrists and pain management doctors out there, so if you are in need of one these doctors and get referred to him, ask to be referred to someone else!

Dr. Platto knew nothing about my condition, and didn't care to. He made me feel like I was more of a bother than anything. He speaks with his back to you almost the entire time and gets annoyed with questions. He seemed more interested in my socioeconomic status and why I am a stay at home mom instead of working as an RN. NOTHING involving my care was up for discussion. His staff are rude and untrustworthy. When I was called for a pill count. They intentionally called the wrong number. I had give every one in the staff my new number several times. I let them treat me this way for almost five years. I'm not the type of person to go doctor shopping. I finally became fed up with the treatment and the pain. I went to a new doctor. He is very knowledgable about my condition. In addition to my lack of pain relief, my condition had actually gotten worse in the years that I saw Dr. Platto. Something he didn't see, or care to. I wouldn't take my dying dog to see him and I would strongly advise… anyone to see someone else.

Rude staff at the front desk and assessing your problem a long drawn out process then . Too long in between visits. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Not real impressed with the quality and concern this doctor and especially his staff have for patients. We've had 3 visits so far. There is a poor mindset for the overall care of the patient when it comes to questions being answered and a real problem with their attitudes towards the patient when we had valid concerns and needed quality & professional answers ! His staff at Washington really professional training of the healthcare world, and not the "I'm just here to collect a paycheck" mentality.

I would recommend him to anyone... He is worth the little extra time in the waiting room.

Very unprofessional. Never introduced himself; never shook hands. With back to me, complained that my medical discs were slow in coming up (not my fault). I expected some discussion about pain management and after a quick review, I was prescribed a pill (something I was hoping to avoid and the reason for my visit). Will not go back or recommend him. Another patient in the waiting room was scheduled 15 minutes after me and waited several hours as I did due to his "running late" schedule.

Wanted to know detailed personal information about me. felt he based evaluation on socioeconomic status. Was uncomfortable with his bedside manner.
