Dr. Michael Howard Porter, DDS

After waiting weeks to get into see Dr. Porter his office called a few days prior to the appointment and asked what insurance I have. I told him Medicare and United healthcare. I was advised that they were not part of those insurance plans and could not help me. I had been in severe pain, inflammation and infection related to TMJ. Now I have to find another doctor. This is horrific service and an obvious indication that the doctor is Only looking to make high fees. Why wouldn’t the office tell me their policy when I made the appointment.

I had an appointment with Michael Porter at the Spartanburg office of Aspen Dental. I was having 14 extractions done in one procedure but he refused to provide me with any pain medication other than Hydrocodone 325/5. I work in EMS and we calculate all drug dosages according to body weight. I weigh 300+ pounds and yet this person expects Norco 5 to take care of my pain after having 14 teeth extracted. Something is clearly wrong in this case. Granted, I do not work in dentistry, but I am assuming that some similar drug dosage calculation is supposed to take place. Clearly no responsible calculations were done here. When I complained, his reaction was shockingly juvenile and exhibited such a lack of care that I feel compelled to warn others about this man's callous lack of concern. I highly recommend choosing someone else if empathy or genuine bedside manner are important to you.

Dr. Porter did a great job removing my four wisdom teeth. Being 25 years old, I was concerned that the removal of my four wisdom teeth would be pretty involved. However, Dr. Porter skillfully removed all four teeth in a short amount of time. I would certainly recommend him to anyone looking to have their wisdom teeth removed.
