Dr. Michael R Ragsdale, MD

As of May 2020 Dr. Michael Ragsdale and his sidekick, Nurse Charlotte maintained a loose practice with no apparent oversight of seeing elderly patients inside various nursing homes in the Lakewood & Denver area. We encountered these two impatient, grouchy burnouts when they were unfortunately assigned to care for my Dad after he was discharged to his Care Community's small Rehab Hospital. In his own words, Dr. Ragsdale "relies heavily on pharmaceuticals to treat" his patients. In other words, he drugs his patients and prefers not to be bothered by anyone's (family) questions or concerns. He told me my Dad had 6-12 months to live, and I've no doubt if Ragsdale and his nurse were allowed to continue treating my dad that he would indeed be dead by now. Instead he is doing well, has survived a pandemic and we're looking forward to getting out this spring and summer. Dr. Ragsdale's Bedside Manner? Horrible! Charlotte is "like a grumpy drill sergeant" according to my Dad, who was in the… military and is now 85 and does not deserve to be treated in a grumpy manner by anyone, leastwise a third-rate burned out old nurse. When I (Medical POA & son) asked questions of Ragsdale or Charlotte I was treated with distain, as if they were grudgingly doing me a favor by getting back to me, if they actually did get back to me which normally they didn't. I learned from staff and other contracted doctors who know Ragsdale that he has been "encouraged to retire for quite a while" due to various problems that I was not told about and because of many experiences similar to ours. Our experience showed Ragsdale is a burned out old doctor who reacts erradictly & with anger and dishonesty -- almost as though he's got some sort of drug problem not his own. His nurse is unpleasant and terse under normal circumstances. As a team, they prefer to treat as many patients in a day as possible by racing all over, so they can bill as much as possible. Don't get in their way by asking questions or showing cconcern for your lived one, because they'll blow up at you and then lie about it. Dr. M. Ragsdale & Nurse Charlotte may have been good at some point but that's long past.

Genuinely one of the best I've ever worked with in 40 years. He's direct and doesn't mince words, but he is always attentive to the needs of seniors and genuinely focused on what would be best for them as individuals. Love his knowledge of dementia and his low key approach to pharmaceutical interventions.

Dr. Ragsdale gave me an honest and caring opinion. His care is top notch and refreshing. He was forthright - he believes if you take care of yourself, the rest comes easier. Words to take value in.
