Dr. Michael Lorin Reed, MD

I went to Dr. Reed once, will not return. I agree with others about Dr. Reed's compassionate bedside manner, knowledge, and high prices (with no insurance reimbursement possible). But his disturbingly bad personal hygiene and unprofessional appearance was surprising and unacceptable. Jeans and cowboy boots (okay, but not flattering so it just looked messy), bad breath and strong body odor. I think he's found a profitable niche and might help you, but I'm not sure it can't be found at a lower price and from someone a little easier to be in the same room with.

Dr. Reed was a complete waste of time and money. I recommend going to another specialist that will cost less and probably be better. I visited Dr. Reed in March. I had to follow up with his office numerous times for my blood results, which were very hard to finally get, and interacted with snooty staff. He also never followed up with me- this turned out to be a relief because I'll end up getting treatments from an equally capable doctor that treats me with respect and doesn't rob me blind! I'm going to try to write a review everywhere I can so that this does not happen to other people!

Dr. Reed is quick to charge a ridiculous amount for an initial visit and then sell you his own prescription rogaine ,and try to persuade you to try treatments that have not been clinically shown to be effective, specifically PRP. I would think twice about going to him.

Alopecia when you're not even close to menopause is extremely anxiety ridden, stressful and shameful. To further complicate things, women's hair loss is not well understood by doctors and there are few treatment options. Dr. Reed was compassionate, thorough, and knew more about the mechanisms for women's hair loss than any other Dermatologist I met (and I've seen quite a few). We immediately started an aggressive therapy, and I'm hopeful we can find a solution together. Mr. Reed's office does not accept any insurance, so the first visit is very, very expensive - but you get what you pay for, and having a doctor who does not belittle your feelings is well worth it.

Most informed doctor I have ever experienced, and most caring too. He totally invests in helping you find the best solution. Mine was skin affected by aging, and he provided a path that restored my appearance to a degree that absolutely thrilled and liberated me. He seemed to take as much enjoyment in my happiness as I did, and was very solicitous of my feelings about the treatment he prescribed. Can't say enough good about Dr. Reed. Honest, with cutting edge expertise and years of experience and a compassionate and kind heart.

A terrific and caring professional. Willing to be open minded about adjusting meds and really listens to concerns. Female hair loss has no easy anwers and it's a difficult anxiety ridden road. One gets the feeling he is walking the road with you. Able to interpret lab work and is not afraid to prescribe medicine he believes in. Courteous and wise he gives a little courage and is helpful with follow ups at the sixth month mark . I can't say we had success but it is not for lack of trying

What can I say?!? After having seen several dermatolists in adult life, Dr. Reed is absolutely at the top in his field, as he is an EXCELLENT diagnostician in all things dermatology. I've had at least 7-8 minor skin conditions for which he either cured or kept under control, by A)correctly diagnosis and B) prescribing the best medicine or ointment to treat, cure or (at the LEAST), keep under control the condition. In addition to being a top-notch dermatologist, he is so down-to-earth, easy to talk to and very caring (he also has a wonderful sense of humor, which is always a welcome addition in otherwise (often) nerve-wracking situations. Also, he's a wonderful listener and doesn't come across as patronizing in the least. For instance, in my case, as I just turned 40, and my mother was diagnosed with a malignant melonoma at age 40 in 1979, when I was 8, I worry about developing it myself, esp since I believe that genetics is a risk factor (and as you may recall, skin cancer wasn't… talked about much back then, at least not among lay people, esp melanoma and its risk factors - thankfully, my mother was EXTREMELY lucky and is a relatively healthy 70 yr old woman now *knock on wood*). So I go in for yearly "mole checks," whereby Dr. Reed looks over my entire body for any changes in existing moles, or any new growths. He definitely helped eased any worries I have about developing a melonoma, because while probably unlikely, at least at this age, he's very reassuring that early detection is key, and that he will make sure that whatever he CAN control, he will!!

He was wonderful, caring and understanding with my daughter and she was only 3 years old at the time. Twenty five years later I am still grateful to him. God Bless him.
