Thank you, Dr. Michael T Reilly, of St Petersburg! Three weeks ago, my son had dropped something heavy on his big toe. A few days later the nail split and his toe was looking terrible so he went to a podiatrist. The specialist told him that the new nail would just push the old nail out and not to be concerned. A few days later the toe became infected. Another 2 days passed when he showed me his toe. I told him that he was going to lose his toe if he didn't see someone right now. It was huge, red, and infected. He called the podiatrist that saw him originally but they could not schedule an appointment for over a week. Mind you, this podiatrist said not to be concerned or my son would not have waited so long thinking it was healing. I immediately called Dr Reilly's office to see what he could do. It was a Friday and the office closes at noon. They called me back at 11:20 AM and told me to send him in right away. Dr Reilly stayed after hours, (until 3:00 pm) taking care of my son that… day.
