Dr. Michael Ryan, a specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Mooresville, NC, is truly the best doctor I have ever met. I have suffered from Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) since youth, yet for decades no physician was able to correctly diagnose my condition. Over the years, I consulted many doctors. Two of them independently told me that if I could not tolerate fatty foods, I should simply avoid them. Others assumed I had colitis or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). For more than thirty years, this illness controlled my life. As I grew older, my symptoms worsened dramatically. I eventually reached a point where I could barely tolerate any dietary fat. I alternated between severe constipation and loose stools, my diet became extremely restricted, and I suffered from poor nutrition. I could not travel, could not eat out, and my physical health steadily declined. My world became smaller and smaller. Everything changed in 2025, when I met Dr. Ryan. He carefully reviewed… my symptoms, ordered a thorough set of diagnostic tests to rule out serious conditions, and finally gave me the correct diagnosis: EPI. He recommended pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy and even provided sample doses so I could try the medication. The results were immediate and life-changing. However, the cost of the medication was overwhelming — a 10- to 25-day supply of it can cost around $1,675 according to SingleCare. Dr. Ryan did not stop at diagnosing my condition. He also helped me apply for the medicine patient assistance program. Because of his help, I am now able to take the medicine regularly. My digestive symptoms have improved significantly, and my diet is now close to normal. Meeting Dr. Ryan was a turning point in my life. Beyond his medical expertise, Dr. Ryan is compassionate, patient, and deeply empathetic. He truly understands the suffering of his patients. Because English is not my first language, he proactively arranged for an interpreter at every appointment to ensure clear communication. During visits, he listens more than he talks — something rare and incredibly valuable in healthcare today. Whenever I send questions through MyChart, he responds quickly and thoughtfully. His entire medical team is outstanding, working together with kindness, efficiency, and professionalism. I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Ryan. He gave me back not only my health, but also my confidence, independence, and quality of life. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly exceptional gastroenterologist.

I was very nervous about my first endoscopy and colonoscopy. Dr. Ryan and his staff did a great job of keeping me calm and comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr. Ryan if you need those procedures done!

I went to see Dr. Ryan on several occasions over just under a year. I was really suffering from severe pelvic, Gastro & digestion issues. I had recently been diagnosed with Diverticulitis & Gastritis by another doctor back where I used to live. All he did was give me antacids & such (bandaids). I was unable to eat, was throwing up daily & lost 40 pounds in 2 years, yet he pretty much refused to run any further tests on me. I suggest that he perform an upper endoscopy, but that request fell on deaf ears. I WOULD NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS IDIOT!

This is my 2nd colonoscopy with Dr. Ryan. He is very personable and takes time to address all your concerns. Directly after your procedure he discusses the results with you. I would like to give a shout out to all his staff also.
