Dr. Michael Je Sandker-Halgrimson, MD

Dr. Halgrimson is about getting you to your optimum - not what is average for "your age" or whatever is the minimum standard. She works to make certain your body is doing what it is supposed to be doing, that your hormones are where they are supposed to be, and hears you when you tell her what is going on. She listens, she analyzes, she works to resolve. She doesn't just hand you some pills or tell you to live with it, you're getting old. I've seen her for several years, and came to her after another couple of doctors (female) in Boulder had bungled my care. There are times when I've waited for her, but when I am with her I have her undivided attention, and she has many times spent more than the average 10 minutes with me. She does not believe in rushing through patients to make more money. She really cares about her patients. And she's very smart - she is quick to analyze, pulls all the pieces together. I am sorry she has retired.

I found Dr. Halgrimson twenty years ago after searching for a doctor who would address hormonal issues with me. She has been exemplary in her bedside manner, explaining issues and listening/understanding my issues. She has had her own health situations, and, I feel, understands others complaints about their bodies. She is never on time, but she never shorts you on your allotted time with her. Always allow an extra hour or two for your appointment, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

I had nothing but pain after a polypectomy form another dr. At first Halgrimson said she did believe it was from the surgery and had all these explanations why. She then made me feel real uncomfortable by pushing on her pubic area showing me where the other dr. stabbed me and then pushing on my pubic area with my clothes still on showing me where it was on me, it felt wrong. Then when I wanted some kind of scan to prove it, she gave me a cat scan of the bones of my pelvis and said I had some arthritis in one of my hips and said the pain was due to this. But my pain was in my pubic area in the middle not in the side by my hip. My hip sometime bothers me but it is in no comparison to the extreme pain I have in the middle of my pubic area. I felt she was trying to cover for the other doctor. After that she tried to hug me and I told her not to do that. Then the next time she examined me with my gown on, but then she wanted me to get dressed in front of her. I would not. I sat there… maybe half an hour or later on the table with my gown still on waiting for her to leave while she kept talking to me. It was so humiliating. When she finally left I got dressed. I never went back again.

I have been a patient of Dr Halgrimson's since 1984, and she is truly a gift from God! I am in the BEST of hands, and her office staff is wonderful! Dr Halgrimson has taken such wonderful care of me thru all the stages and trials of my life, her kind, caring, compassionate way is a blessing not found in many doctors. Her appointments usually runs late because she takes the time needed with her patients, they are more important to her than a ticking clock, I will gladly wait to see her, any day!
