Dr Michael Sandler, OD

Dr. Michael E. Sandler, O.D., is a highly experienced optometrist with deep roots in the state of Florida. After graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Sandler returned to Florida to join the prestigious staff at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami. Working alongside world-renowned eye surgeons, he gained invaluable experience with rare and extraordinary eye conditions, which inspired him to open his own optometry practice.
Since establishing his practice in 1984, Dr. Sandler has specialized in contact lenses, pediatric optometry, and diagnosing and treating eye diseases. These specialties form the core of his practice and reflect his commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality eye care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sandler expanded his expertise to sports vision, becoming a trusted optometrist for professional athletes. He has served as the official eye doctor for Major League Baseball teams, including the Montreal Expos …(1987-1999), New York Mets (2003), and Miami Marlins (1993-present). His contributions to the Miami Marlins, including their World Series wins, have earned him the honor of receiving World Series rings as the team’s eye doctor. He has also provided vision care for Florida Atlantic University football, Nova Southeastern University baseball, and USA Baseball.
Currently celebrating his 28th anniversary as the Miami Marlins’ team eye doctor, Dr. Sandler has been recognized by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) for over 20 years of service in Major League Baseball. He is board-certified by both the Florida Board of Optometry and the Illinois Board of Optometry, solidifying his standing as a leader in the field of optometry.
