Dr. Michael Joel Schmerin, MD

I have been going to Dr. Schmerin since the early 1980's, when I contracted a bug in the Middle East and came home in distress. I have seen him several times since then, most recently today, and always come away so impressed with his skill and demeanor. Plus he has a wonderful staff. I recommend him without reservation.

Dr Schmerin is highly regarded and well known in the field locally (ever other GI doc I’ve been to has known him!), but my care under him was not impressive. I did not feel that he was particularly current with the today’s fast moving medical field/research. I also felt that he was somewhat dismissive of my past medical history while only focusing on current symptoms. While he is by all means respectful and intelligent, i was better served by going to a different doctor who was more willing to discuss alternative / new treatments for the issues I was facing.

It is a blessing to be his patient.

Dr. Schmerin is professional, caring, and brilliant. Have seen him for many years and consistently provides expert treatment and accurate medical advice. Procedures over the years have been pain free and tolerable. I have referred family and friends to him. He is the best. Feel very fortunate he is my doctor and wish other physicians who I see were like him.

Dr. Schmerin found my father's very rare form of colon cancer and was instrumental in saving my father's life. He is professional, caring and has a wonderful bedside manner. Would highly recommend.

Was he rushed the day I saw him or just in a very bad mood? Very good experience when I saw him five years ago. Disappointed with him and his in-procedure staff this time around. Brusque, irritable, hurried. All and all a negative experience!

I have been a patient of Dr. Schmerin since the early nineties. My husband, and two adult sons eventually became his patients as well. Dr. Schmerin is very knowledgeable, he carefully listens to all your symptoms, and his diagnoses is very accurate. His staff is great too. Our family will never see another doctor unless Dr. Schmerin retires. No other doctor compares. I highly recommend him.
