Dr. Michael Stephen Schottenstein, MD

I've been to many psychiatrists throughout the years and he is the best of the best. He's smart and very careful about prescribing medications. I've been to doctors who were eager to throw medications at me that ended up doing more harm than good. He was focused on addressing the underlying cause of my problems, rather than taking many medications to treat the symptoms. His approach really helped turn my mental health around.

Dr. Schottenstein has been an integral part of helping our 17 year old daughter cope with her anxiety. He is patient, creates a safe space for her to share, and does an excellent job validating her feelings and emotions. He is a partner with the rest of her health care team and launches calls to the other professionals helping to ensure they are all working together and encourages open communication. We are so grateful to have received the referral to see Dr. Schottenstein. We are very comfortable that our daughter is in very capable, competent hands. We highly recommend Dr. Schottenstein to anyone who may be looking for a psychiatrist. His commitment to his patients was obvious when I called him on a Friday afternoon, he returned my call within a few hours, and saw our daughter that Sunday. He understands that families in crisis need help now rather than requiring an appointment be made 6-8 weeks into the future.

Dr Schottenstein and I have been working together for about 7 years now. In all my years I have never had a doctor so responsive and caring. I was in a bad way when I started with him. I was on the verge of suicide. It took a year to hone in on the correct medications. Then fine tuning as the years gone by. He is patient, listens to you and your body, then diagnoses. I would highly recommend him to anyone having a problem finding a doctor. He truly is the best. I have gone to many doctors and no one could precisely diagnose what I had. I am in the best shape of my life. I have never felt better. I am a big people person and he has helped me find my way back.

Dr. Schottenstein is kind, patient, knowledgeable, and extremely attentive. He made my daughter a priority. Dr. Schottenstein truly understands ADHD and anxiety. In addition, he makes children feel safe and understood. I would highly recommend the services he provides. I feel extremely fortunate to have my daughter in his care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Schottenstein's for 2 years now to help me recover and move forward from the head/brain injury I received in an accident on my motorcycle. He is professional and compassionate; I am appreciative of his checking in on me between visits and his coordination of care with my psychologist. He has diligently worked with me to deal with the effects of my injury. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a psychiatrist.

Dr. Schottenstein is an excellent physician. He has a very professional manner. He is kind but very honest and realistic. He is an excellent listener and offers helpful suggestions beyond just medication. I was able to schedule an appointment within a few days of my initial call. It can be hard to ask for help when one has a psychological problem. Dr. Schottenstein is very "disarming" - easy to talk to. I highly recommend this physician if you or a family member are in need of psychological or psychiatric care.

Dr Schottenstein has a disarming mien and an elegance in his manner(s) and dialogue with patients. You come away with a feeling of confidence that he truly cares about you personally and wants to do his absolute best to improve the quality of your life.

Dr. Schottenstein is THE BEST! Although he doesn't accept insurance at all, my insurance will reimburse me for a portion of the cost. He is truly worth it!
