Dr. Michael L Sganga, MD

Dr Sganga did a Brostrom ligament repair and repaired and cleaned up an osteochondrial defect after having multiple injuries to my right ankle. He was great from start to finish. I am a very active 36 yr old female who continues to play ice hockey, deck hockey, roller hockey, softball and starting football in my adulthood. I thought I would be unable to be active for at least 6 months after the surgery. I was skating at 7 weeks and I’m now 8 weeks out and literally writing this as I’m about to walk out the door to play hockey for the first time since surgery. My ankle feels great and actually better than my left. Could not be happier that I went to him. I was completely unable to jump or run prior without severe pain and continuous sprains.

Dr. Sganga fixed my problem in an excellent manner.

Dr. Sganga is very professional. Explained the problems, Identified the risks and benefits. Fixed my painful callus problem. Very easy surgery, easy to get appointments. Explained the surgery, the steps along the way from first visit until today. Surgical team was great. I would Recommend Dr. Sganga for foot/ankle problems.

Let me start by saying that I am unrelated to Dr. Sganga but he took care of me as if am a family member that he really likes. A little background... I had Achilles tendon repair surgery done where I used to live (Georgia). As luck would have it, I chose an extremely unprofessional surgeon who refused to re-image my leg even though after 5-or so months, I had not healed in one spot from which I had to go in and have the provider, or her PA pull stitches out that had come undone (I guess) and where protruding from the open wound. She refused to take another image! I moved to the Boston area for a new job and thankfully found Dr. Sganga. On my initial visit, I described my ordeal as he reviewed my x-rays. This apparently prompted him to have an in-depth look at my leg and discovered why I was not healing. Basically, stiches protruding from an open wound provided a pathway for infection. That's why I didn't heal. Anyway, I had surgery to do the repair correctly and had to stay in the… hospital for several days, connected to antibiotics. When the fluid draining from my wound was clear of infection, Dr. Sganga performed a second surgery to close me up. He was there at every follow-up, which demonstrated a "personal" interest. I can't recommend Dr. Sganga highly enough. He is obviously a compassionate, knowledgeable, and highly skilled Doctor who doesn't forget that his patient is a human being. I can say none of this for the practitioner I saw in Georgia who, I can't bring myself to refer to as a doctor.

Dr. Sganga misread my x-rays that were taken @ Orthopedics New England in Natick. The swelling on the right side of my ankle was blatantly obvious. He took a VERY quick look at my ankle and then the x-rays and determined that it wasn't anything to be concerned about. Ice it. Elevate feet. Done. Off he went in a rush to the next patient. Well, I saw another podiatrist at a different office who took a closer look and gave the medical term for what was causing the swelling. It's absolutely appalling that Dr. Sganga didn't read the x-ray correctly and didn't diagnose the underlying issue for the swelling. Guess he missed that class in medical school. Stay away from this office! The other podiatrist, Dr. Mark Rose is even worse. He looks burned-out from his job and gives questionable untrustworthy advice.

I've never heard of a situation like this - but first time for anything. Made an appointment for my mom who flew out from Montana some time ago. Evidently the office no longer exists their old Dedham location. Arrived 45 minutes early, and began calling Sganga's number - no return calls (the office was open) for over 40 minutes - I and a New England Baptist office that was helping to call various numbers they had. When finally was able to get through to a person they offered no apology for not contacting us and giving us the new appointment address, which was many miles away, and made no effort to squeeze us in a few minutes late. I can't express how unprofessional this staff is.

Broke both bones in my ankle. Needed surgery including plates and screws. Dr. Sganga was great. You hardly notice the scars from surgery and my ankle has healed very well. Dr. Sganga was personable, explained everything in detail and was always on time. Have recommended him to other including my husband who is currently being treated by Dr. Sganga for planter Faciatis.

Dr. Sganga is amazing. He was always on time, had an great bedside manner, and mostly was an outstanding doctor. Her performed the Topaz with Plasma Transfer. A week out from the procedure my foot is feeling better, and Dr. Sganga said it will continue to improve over the next few months.

My experience with Dr. Sganga was better than any other experience with a Dr./Surgeon. Highly professional yet personable. Showed great care throughout the surgery process and recovery. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Sganaga to family and friends. Quality.

This dr actually seems to care about his patients. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and explains things very well. He actually called me the next day, on a saturday mind you, to find out why I didnt get labs he ordered done. That goes to show his follow up and interest in his patients. Office staff a little rude (just 1 person) but doesn't take away from him. Would definitely recommend him.
