Summary
I am a retired Navy doctor who grew up on a farm in northern Michigan. I wanted to serve my country, help people, and travel-the Navy was perfect for this. I entered the Naval Academy and then eventually the University of Michigan Medical School. In the Navy, I went all over the world, did and saw many exciting things, and had an interesting career. I knew I wanted to be in San Diego from the first time I stepped off the plane as a midshipman in 1973. I spent much of my Navy career in San Diego or sailing out of San Diego. I came to Kaiser Permanente because I can practice medicine in a manner that is important to me. I can give the best care I know how without the worry of the administrative side of the practice.
