After anorectal surgery I had no significant pain or problems, nor did I need any pain medications (even on the same day as the surgery). Dr. Spencer has a wonderful bedside manner.

Took time to carefully listen. Very personable. Explained options and their risks and benefits in a clear and unhurried manner. Excellent surgical outcome.

Dr. Spencer is one the best colon rectal surgeons you will ever meet. Not only is he one the best as far as his surgical skills go but his bed side manner and his compassion he shows towards his patients is above and beyond any other physician I've met. He also offered me a Nursing internship while in nursing school. I suffer from crohns diease and I'm having my entire colon and rectum removed in a couple weeks. Usually I'd be very nervous but when you have had a surgeon do 10 or more surgerys on you already, I feel comfortable and confident he will do the job jut fine.

From the moment I entered the beautifully appointed office of Dr. Spencer, I knew I was about to enlist a doctor who paid attention to details. Dr. Spencer is kind, considerate, and he knows how to listen to a patient. He is, as one might easily imagine, a very popular and thus very busy doctor; however, he takes time to explain the procedure both during the initial consultation and immediately before the surgery. He stops by to say hello and inquire as your well-being after the surgery. Great experience all the way around thus far. I am still recovering from surgery (post-op day 1), and I am about to call his office for advise. His assistant Renee is incredibly helpful, as are the others with whom he works.

I was diagnosed several years ago with colorectal Cancer and was referred to Dr Spencer. This was a pretty traumatic event in my life typically being overall very healthy. I met with Dr Spencer and left feeling confident that I was in capable hands and indeed that has been the case. I went from a colostomy, needed due to the location of the cancer, through several surgeries to eliminate the colostomy and reattach my colon, With Dr Spencer and his surgical skill and compassion I was able to move past the cancer and on with my life. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Worst doctor ever. Tried to cover up his mistakes by referring me to his friend he went to medical school with. He didn't correctly sew up my incision and I had 4 hernias in it. Went to u of m and they fixed it right away. He covered it up so he didn't get a malpractice suit. Dr Larsen is his friend at mayo . He was a complete jerk to my mother and I.

Dr Spencer is the BEST in his field! He is compassionate, caring, very skilled at his profession! I would tell you to take into consideration that he is the most educated doctor in this field! His expertise is above and beyond all others!

In 2011 Dr. Spencer performed a colostomy on me. He is so talented, professional, and caring. I highly recommend him!

He is an unbeleivably talented surgeon. He corrected complications from a previous surgery and did a takedown of an iliostomy in 1 surgery. I recovered from a 2 year nightmare of bad luck and misery.I HIGHLY reccomend Dr. Spencer
