Dr. Svestka is a native of the Washington, DC, metropolitan area and a graduate of St. Albans School at Washington National Cathedral. He completed his undergraduate studies at the College of William and Mary, followed by a postbaccalaureate at Harvard, before attending Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He completed a five-year residency in general surgery at SUNY Stony Brook in New York, where he served as administrative chief resident, garnering five teaching awards during his tenure. Following residency, he spent six months at the Cleveland Clinic Comprehensive Hernia Center learning the latest techniques in abdominal wall reconstruction.
Since 2019, Dr. …Svestka has focused his practice on the full spectrum of hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction, with extensive experience in open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques.

Dr. Svestka performed a hernia operation on me. He and his staff were incredible, patient, and on point on every aspect of the treatment, from pre- through post surgery follow-up. They answered every question (and I had quite a few) and again, delivered exactly as promised. Everything was explained thoroughly and clearly. I recommend Dr. Svestka and his team so much that I will be utilizing his staff for other surgeries that I need.
