Dr. Michael J. Thoene has been in private dermatology practice since 1979. He was joined by Dr. Doyle D. Hansen in 1982. Dr. Thoene is a native of Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha. He is Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Thoene served in the United States Navy for seven years on active duty. After Naval service he started a private practice in El Cajon and was joined by Dr Hansen to form East County Dermatology Group. Dr. Thoene performs most types of dermatologic surgery and is especially interested in clinical diagnostic dermatology. He and his office staff work closely with Dr. Hansen's office to coordinate ultraviolet treatments and specialty procedures such as Moh's surgery. Dr. Thoene's leisure interests include golf and spectator sports, especially the Padres and Chargers. He works in the office at 514 South Magnolia Avenue in El Cajon.

My wife and I have been seeing Dr Thoene for at least 20 years. When a skin condition appears he looks at it and immediately identifies it. If you have ever looked on the web under skin problems you will note that a great number of different problems have very similar appearance but Dr Thoene can instantly discern the unique signature of each type of problem. My own GP can not do the same. Dr Thoene's rates are also very reasonable even without insurance.

Had an excellent visit and the office is very friendly. I highly recommend this doctor.

Dr. Theone is an exceptional doctor. He has provided his expertise and care for me since I was a teen. Then he treated my teenage daughter. Cured her acne. I recommend him to anyone who is concerned with issues related to dermatology. My family are under his care as well. The office staff are all friendly and genuine.

I have been seeing Doctor Thoene for a number of years now, he is caring, never rushes, listens to me, and does the most he can possibly do for my hair loss condition. The staff is excellent, and I will continue to go to him as long as he wants to see me. My condition is ongoing, and I trust whatever he tells me.My husband also sees him on occassion.

my medi/medi insurance status made me trepidacious but I need not be. They treated me as well as a cash paying customer. He spent plenty of time with me and getting a followup appointment was a snap.
