Dr. Michael George Uzmann, MD

While I greatly enjoy seeing Dr. Uzmann for HRT care, getting refills, lab work orders, call backs, timely responses, etc... makes seeing him long term unfeasible. Been trying to get lab work and meds renewed for over a month without luck. Phone systems don't work, phone numbers report as disconnected. Very depressing constantly stressing about being out of meds because no one answers the phones to help.

Dr Uzmann is amazing. He spends time with you, listens to your concerns, explains everything carefully - and is generally early or on time. His office used to be so helpful - getting an appointment didn't take months, calling didn't mean waiting on hold for hours, and when the office staff said they'd follow up on something and get back to you - they meant it. But once Dr Uzmann expanded the practice to include other specialists as well, it's been impossible to get an appointment timely - when you take medications that keep you alive, and call to make an appointment the day you fill your last prescription, you shouldn't have to worry that you'll be two weeks without medication. Two stars for a five star doctor because the stress from dealing with trying to get meds, appointments, or even bloodwork is so high that I'm considering going elsewhere - not that he'll notice since he's taken on more patients than he can handle in a timely manner. I've been a patient for 4 years and the last… year has been terrible.

I saw Dr. Uzmann about 3 times. Nice doctor, office staff nice. I have recently moved and have tried to call the office several times to get a prescription. When you call the office, there is no way to speak to a real person. All you get is a request to leave a message. I have left many messages and no one has called me back. If I had known I would have this problem, I never would have gone to this office. Very frustrating. I am now out of meds because of them. Find a different doctor for your needs.

Don't bother, you'll be sorry. Rude, talks about other patients. HIPPA laws broken, and office doesn't return calls. Watch out!

I was seen by Dr Uzmann last year to diagnose a thyroid condition. To start, his staff lost my new patient paperwork and blood work on SEVERAL different occasions. Dr Uzmann was pleasant during the first two appointments but I think it's important to note that my husband attended the first two appointments with me but was not able to attend the third. On the third appointment, I went alone and Dr Uzmann was immediately arrogant towards me. He told me multiple times that he was "the best doctor you will ever have. I didn't even need to run the tests on you that I did." If he didn't need to run the tests, then was it done simply to overbill me and my insurance? When I asked him to elaborate on treatment he recommended (he briefly told me what his plan was as he was walking out of the room) he flew into a rage saying that I was "sh*tting all over me and my staff when you question treatment." When I told him not to speak to me in such a way he said; "I CAN DO WHATEVER THE F*CK I WANT!" I… ran out of the office in tears. I reported this incident to the state medical board immediately after it happened. I hope this review saves someone the traumatic experience I had with this doctor.

Dr Uzmann is great (5 stars)... but the office is awful (0 stars). Let's start at the beginning of the patient process, the phone system... it's horrible! I often call several times before getting through to a person, because I'm either hung up on or on hold for so long in the que (30-40min) that I get pushed out of the system. Once I am able to get an appointment booked, if there is any request for information or referral paper work needed, or testing orders sent out as a follow-up, it takes DAYS and in one case over a week for notification - and I ultimately have to do the follow-up by cross checking to make sure any testing facility has gotten the orders. The scheduling and referral staff does not do anything quickly, though they are aware of the gravity of the medical situation and how immediate the need to expedited handling is. In 4 other instances over the last 4 months, I was told to speak with a specific member of the staff, even given direct numbers and email address to… 'communicate more effectively', and though I often left voice messages for those individuals, but they were never returned. I've resorted to going to the office in person, and have often been told that these staff members did not receive any messages. Recently we were sent to UCLA for additional appointments, and the management is day and night! I get a response in 24-48 hours from the staff at UCLA, all messages are returned, with testing set up in the same time frame. How can one facility and standard of patient communication and care be so very different from another? Answer: Carlos the office manager of Dr. Uzmann's office should be under review for practices as he is responsible for the issues. Though his staff is friendly, they are inept at communication... maybe the tools (phone, fax, email) Carlos has equipped them is inadequate and it makes it difficult to handle patient care effectively, or maybe he has in place certain practices that impede their efficiency. I do not believe anything sinister is going on at that office, but I do believe there is a gross negligence on the office managers part to set up an effective system of care and communication. No matter the reason, he is responsible for the effectiveness of his staff and at present the level of communication is unimpressive.

Dr. Michael Uzmann is the best. I feel very cared for every visit. I wish all the doctors and clinics work the way dr. Michael Uzmann does.

Easy to deal with and no delay in the office. Wish my other doctors were so quick and prepared.

After looking around for someone to help balance my thyroid Dr. Uzmann did it. Nice office and very timely. My husband will be going to see him for diabetes I hope.
