Dr. Michael Vacco, MD

My daughter had colitis and we didn’t know it. First took her to Dr.Vacco for her side and diarrhea. He played it off as muscle pain and a virus. Later that night we ended up in the ER with a ct scan that showed colitis and infection in her colon. Now with antibiotic we are on the road to recovery. He didn’t even check her and was just guessing. She had been sick for 5 days and he said it was viral. Not a good doctor at all. I would never take her there again.

I followed up with Dr Vaaco as I did not know of any other pediatricians in Big Stone Gap. However he came in the room, barely touched my newborn and didn’t seem to want to answer any of my questions and his answer for my baby falling asleep while nursing was to “Just use formula, it’s easier for everyone.” Needless to say, I won’t be back.

Dr. Vacco has been my daughters Dr. since she was 5 days old. He has always been patient and very informative with my 'new mom' questions. We love him and his nurses are the best! I have no problems getting my daughter to go see him when she is sick.

My son has seen him since birth and he is now 4. We have never had a problem getting in to see him. My son loves the nurses, the entire staff is very nice, and loves children.
