Dr. Michael S Vance, MD

I am very pleased to have Dr. Vance as my son's cardiologist. I appreciate the honesty and clarity in the information that he provides us concerning our son's condition and care. In my experience, doctors often try to "passify" me as the mother instead of offering concise answers to my questions. Dr. Vance is very straightforward in his approach and pleasantly so. He has been involved in my son's care since his first open heart surgery at 3 days old and has been his cardiologist since then. My son is now 3yrs. of age. Our family moved 4 hours away and we make the drive for our son's appointments because that is how comfortable I am with the care he receives. I have 2 other facilities closer with outstanding reputations and I'm sure they would provide excellent care. Dr. Vance is my first choice as well as my husband's. The care provided by CHKD and it's staff is also exemplary.

I was born with transposition of the great arteries, and have spent a considerable deal of time in the hospital. I have seen numerous doctors of cardiology in the surrounding area. So when I say that he is the worst doctor I have had, please understand my experience in this topic. Not only did he miss a diagnosis when my heart failed, he botched a surgery and show no professionalism, took no responsibility, and showed no compassion towards my very challenging medical situations as a child. I would urge anyone considering using him to find another doctor.
