Horrible service—avoid at all costs! 0 stars. I booked a telehealth appointment in person and had to wait nearly a month. During that time, I received at least 10 emails and texts demanding confirmation—which I provided—yet not a single message explained how to access the appointment or where to call. When I reached out for instructions, I expected clarity. Instead, on the day of my long-awaited tele-visit, they suddenly demanded my co-payment. Since I was in a location without my credit card, they refused to send the doctor’s link until I paid. I have excellent insurance and credit, yet they treated me like they could not care less. Zero flexibility, zero professionalism. Absolutely unacceptable service. Stay away!

He definitely doesn't know what he is doing. And won't listen to patient if anything I think he was racist as a Hispanic person I thought it was rude for him to ask me if I like beans and if I call my beans beaners and if all people from Mexico have bad teeth. I'm from Brazil. And I felt discriminated.

Have to remind him of reason he recommended change in medicine or prescription in the first place and even to the point why I am returning to see him. Not impressed anymore and looking for new doctor. That said, very pleasant and nice individual. Unfortunately, not looking for a friend but a good doctor.

Only saw me for 5 minutes. Refused to Combined labs

I see Dr. West and NP Donna Westervelt in his office and have never had anything less than the most professional and caring visits. They are efficient - but not rushed like the other reviewer says. Dr. West leaves a fair amount of the routine check-in stuff diabetics have to go through to Donna and others - he comes in for the hard questions. That's fine with me - and what I expect from a highly capable and educated specialist. A great team.

Dr. West is young, sort of cocky, and has almost physically rushed me out of his office. I pay $40 copay (I don't even know what he charges my insurance) and he literally spends 5 minutes with me. The first time I went, I didn't have bloodwork done yet, and they scheduled my appointment anyway, he talked to me for approximately 4 minutes, billed me $40 copay, and hustled me out. Second checkup, with blood results, I tried to discuss with him why my thyroid levels are so crazy yet I don't feel any symptoms. I tried to discuss other things I could do to improve my thyroid health, and he dismisses it, and quick quick! out of that office super fast! I thought my most recent visit might be my last and that I could just get my paperwork and never visit a specialist again, and sure enough, this might have been the fastest appointment yet. He ran into the examination room, almost knocked my water bottle out of my hand trying to reach for my throat to feel my thyroid gland, run run into the… office, told me levels are still a little high, let's up the doses and see you in two months. Before I had stood up, he had already run to the door and was holding it open for me. Four minutes. Maximum. I absolutely would not recommend this doctor.

Where do I begin?I guess I should start with his office staff. As soon as you walk into the office, they will immediately ask for the co-payment before you even have a chance to take off your coat. I understand that the office needs to ensure payment, but surely they could at least say, "Hello," "Good Afternoon" or "Good Morning," before asking for your money right off the bat.The office staff however is mild, compared to Dr. West. Despite all of his stellar medical "credentials," he lacks greatly in the following key areas, bedside manner, warmth/compassion, and listening skills. After seeing Dr. West, it's quite apparent that he does not think much of people who he deems as 'inferior.' I however believe that it's essential for a patient to ask questions and work alongside the doctor to arrive at positive health outcomes. Unfortunately, Dr. West showed zero interest in learning about my thyroid history, and primary complaints. It quickly became apparent that Dr. West would not be… able to help me, therefore; my visit was a complete waste of time and money.It's unfortunate that he only spent 6 minutes with me (and yes I was a new patient). I plan to send a formal complaint letter to my health insurance company regarding the poor care that I received. I sincerely hope that my private health insurance provider really listens to my concerns about this man. I get angry when I think about how poorly I was treated. I firmly believe that Dr. West only treats minorities in this fashion, because he believes that it's acceptable. There are so many studies highlighting the relative poor health of minorities, but no one seems to examine how we are treated by medical providers. The fact that many of them do not care about providing the same quality of care may explain why there's such a gap in health disparities between whites and minorities. I will think twice before I see another white male doctor. I am now only interested in seeing a minority physician with good bedside manners. I seriously urge minorities in need of endocrinology services to seek out another provider. Do not waste your time or your health insurance company's money. I think it speaks volumes that it's easy for people to book appointments with his office. I'm positive however, that most of his patients (especially those who are minorities) do not return for follow-up care from Dr. West. I guess Johns Hopkins didn't teach this doctor the most important lesson of all, -how to listen or care for patients, irrespective of their race, color/creed. Sincerely, A truly unsatisfied ex-patient
