Dr. Michael D Whitaker, MD

Probably knowledgeable enough, but unwilling to listen well, disinterested in my input, and also demeaning and rude in his manner and tone of voice. I thought his report was an inaccurate account of our visit.

I saw him at Mayo Clinic. He was my second opinion, I already knew I had an enlarged thyroid (3xsize) from a different office. He was unprofessional and when I questioned if he mesure my thyroid and what is the size of the thyroid, then he answered with: “you just have a fat neck” - I then questioned him if he is a real doctor or just a mental patient lost in the patient visitation room. He didn’t do the proper testing to have a diagnostic. He is careless and shouldn’t see patients unless he improved his attitude.

He may be knowledgeable, but lacks people skills. Does not offer hope, doesn't give you the benefit, of listening or understanding you delema

I saw Dr Whitaker today and I found that he listened to my concerns followed up by good advice. I went into todays appointment a bit skeptical because of the negative reviews I had read but was pleasantly surprised by his wonderful bed side manner, professionalism and overall knowledge. I do question many of the negative reviews that have been posted, very unfair! I will definitely return to Dr Whitaker whenever I have the need to see an endocrinologist.

A most unpleasant experience, poor bedside practice

I agree with the other comments. Dr. Whitaker does not listen to your symptoms and concerns. We left with the same problems as we came in with. Do not recommend, wasting your time.

Dr. Whitaker is super responsive, which is half the battle. He's efficient, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'm grateful!

Dr. Whitaker is probably knowledgeable but is also dismissive and doesn't listen to important information, especially not with sympathy. In the end he seems more inclined to confirm his speedy conclusion than to find the true reason of a problem. I would not recommend him.

Dr.Whitaker was so rude and unkind to me when I reported my symptoms to him after my treatment for thyroid cancer that I switched doctors. It was a good thing I did because besides being mean, he was also wrong in belittling me, I was really having a reaction and needed help.

I saw Dr. Whitaker in the spring of 2015 for a persistent thyroid problem that I had been having followed for 3 years at home in in Colorado. I thought he was excellent. He steered me in a completely different direction than the CO doctors had, and this was by far the best result for me. He was professional, courteous, to the point, and very helpful. Once I returned to CO, he was very responsive regarding my follow-up blood tests, even though at that point I was under the care of my primary care doctor in CO. I recommend him most highly.
