If you are looking for a physician who communicates, advocates for his patients, treats you as a partner in your care, and responds appropriately to serious medical issues, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I have significant cardiovascular disease and experienced repeated communication failures throughout my care. Calls and messages from both me and my primary care physician routinely went unanswered for days on end. When insurance denied a test that this physician said was medically necessary, his office provided virtually no advocacy and no meaningful updates despite repeated requests. Most concerning, another test revealed severe issues, yet neither Dr. Wilkinson nor his office contacted me to discuss the results. Multiple messages from me and outreach from my PCP were ignored for days. When I finally heard from him, he acknowledged the results were concerning but spent more time telling me that my expectations for communication were "unreasonable" and that I should… find another provider. In my profession, I routinely manage hundreds of clients and concerned family members. I understand what it means to juggle competing demands and large caseloads. What I do not understand is ignoring patients with serious medical conditions, failing to communicate urgent results, and viewing basic patient follow-up as an unreasonable and inconvenient expectation. My experience was that this practice lacks responsiveness, patient advocacy, accountability, and basic respect for patients. Knowledge and credentials are not enough. Patients deserve communication, collaboration, and compassion. If those qualities matter to you, I would steer clear of Dr. Wilkinson.
