Periodontists go through the same training as general dentists, and then they continue their education further, training for the oral surgeries required in periodontal therapy. Dr. Williamson received his Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Baylor College of Dentistry, with honors in both. He stayed in Dallas to continue his education, receiving a specialty certificate in Periodontics in addition to his Master’s degree in Oral Medicine. For his post-graduate work, The Academy of Periodontology awarded him the highest award available for this specialty field.
Since practicing periodontics, Dr. Williamson has received board certification status from the American Board of Periodontology. He is a current member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Southwest Society of Periodontics, Tenth District Dental Society, Texas Dental Association and American Dental Association.
How did this journey begin? Dr. Williamson …knew from his teenage years that he wanted to be involved in dentistry. He ultimately chose periodontics for two reasons: the challenge of the advanced surgical training, and the freedom that it afforded him to be with his family.
Now, as a practicing periodontist in Austin, TX, Dr. Williamson offers a wide array of periodontal services, delivered with care, concern and a friendly face. He takes responsibility for the comfort and oral health of his clients. Dr. Williamson lives just around the corner from his office, allowing him easy access for post-operative emergencies.
Beyond providing his personal patients with exemplary customer care, Dr. Williamson gives his skills to as many people in need as possible. He regularly goes on mission trips to lend a hand in such places as Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua, to name a few.
In his personal life, Dr. Williamson dedicates time to his faith and his family. He enjoys spending time on the lake with his wife, Susan, and their 4 children.
