Dr. Michael Bruce Zafrani, MD

Dr. waltzes in around 45 minutes after my appointment time. Doesn't respect a patient so cannot even keep his appointments on time. If he is late with his first patient everyone after has to wait also. Very rude secretary!

Several years ago, my oldest daughter tried to commit suicide. The hospital sent her to Kahe Mohala, which then referred her to Dr. Zafrani for counseling. She met with him several sessions, and I met with him each time right after she was finished, (never both of us at the same time). Each of us was told that the other person was the problem and that we needed to only communicate with each other about the problem through him. If you questioned that advice, he became aggressive and hostile. Eventually, she and I began a dialog about things, and both of us discovered that he had been playing us against each other. We stopped seeing him immediately, and things between her and I started improving from that point. I was sent a survey by HMSA about him, and told them what had happened with us. I assumed that he would eventually cause himself to fail in business, but just found out that he's still practicing. Very disappointed to learn that, as I believe he has never learned the… adage, "first, seek to do no harm."

I have a medical history spanning 2 decades that well documents my condition. He made me feel like I fabricated my claims and straight up told me he didn't believe in treating chronic pain with pain meds. I suffer from multiple problems; migraines, arthritis in my neck, spinal stenosis (cervical). These are the more pronounced causing me distress and disrupting my daily routine. This guy has discounted my pain level and offered no resolution except to label me a drug addict. He stated "I'm a humanitarian, don't get me wrong. If someone is suffering this needs to be addressed". I felt dissed and worthless in his office. Each appointment I have waited at least 1 hour to see him. Once I arrived @ 730am for my 8oclock time. He didn't arrive until 9am. Another patient was ahead of me but not seen for another 25 min! After 45 min the patient left and then it was finally my turn but not before 15 min had passed. By this time it was a little past 10am. Ridiculous. He's confrontational,… especially if challenged. I need to find another Dr as this isn't working. WARNING do not subject yourself to this awful treatment. Find another professional.

I did not trust him the moment I saw him. I had seen a couple of yelp reviews before I saw him, and I totally agree. He saw me for 15 minutes, and put me on a bi-polar medication, I guess because my dad is, but I am not, and it made me a different person. I almost got in trouble for how it made me feel, luckily my sister caught me before I could do any damage. He put me on Serequeal, that has serious side effects, especially if you are not bi-polar. After talking to the arrogant SOB for 15 minutes, he figured he had me figured out. I never trusted him, and even after 15 minutes. I went to him to help me get off pain killers that I had been taking for several years because of a neck problem. I just got a bill for a pee test he made me take that was $150 after insurance. He checked me for meth, cocaine, amphetamines, and barbiturates, none of which I have done in my life. Then came a $150 bill. This guy does not care about people, but is in it for the money. I do know, I have been in… the medical field for over 20 years. If you truly wont help, do not go to this guy.

He was dismissive and condescending and overall disrespectful.

This doctor has a serious God complex! He will happily "advise" you, but if you fail to follow his advice to the letter, he gets a little hot under the collar. Plus his grasp on reality is a little distant. I saw him for about an hour to lay out what I was looking for from him (he was a second opinion). When I went back to follow up, and told him I was going to stick with the plan my original Dr. had set up, he got extremely upset, the began trash-talking my Primary Care Physician and the other specialists I had seen. When he was making his "points" he started throwing out "facts" from my history - which could have been very helpful in making his case... But it wasn't my history. He was accusing me of behaviors and habits that other patients may have, but he certainly wasn't talking about me. Anyway, there surely are more personable physicians out there. I'm not sure whether he is writing himself prescriptions or ought to be...

This was the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor! He is ALWAYS overbooked, so waiting for an hour is pretty much normal to him. When i began to open up, he was judgmental and suggested i make better decisions. Duh! When i asked for suggestions on how ro cope w my stress, he had nothing! Judgmental and condescending, def not recommended!
