Dr. Michael J Zelefsky, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Z, almost 19 years ago. I have been cancer free since treatment. I can not begin to express how happy I was with the care I received and of course the results. Dr. Z is always on the cutting edge and aware of all possible treatments. If you have Prostate Cancer, I am terribly sorry, but go to Dr. Z, he will put you at ease and he will help devise the best possible treatment.

I am seeing Dr. Zelefsky to deal with a prostate cancer recurrence, having been treated elsewhere for prostate cancer 8 years ago. Dr. Zelefsky went to great lengths to explain my options for treatment, given my current situation. I decided on salvage brachytherapy by Dr. Z after considering likely outcomes. Having completed the seed implants, I am extremely impressed by Dr. Z's knowledge, ability to explain things in layman's terms, and his intensely caring attitude. Further, his staff is also first class in every respect. I am convinced I could not be getting any better care than I am now from Dr. Zelefsky and his team.

I was most impressed with Dr Zelefsky's knowledge, his thorough explanation of possible treatment plans for my husband and the reasoning behind his recommendations. He spent a considerable amount of time with us and willingly answered every question we had. His interactions helped us quickly develop a feeling of confidence in him. After he left the room his nurse Jamie went into even greater detail about the choices that we could have with the recommended treatment plans. She exuded a warmth and friendliness that made us feel really comfortable even though this was not a situation that one would choose to be in. She was incredibly knowledgeable but offered the information in terms that we could easily understand. She offered to help us in anyway that she could regarding follow-up and we had no doubt that this was a genuine offer. We will certainly be in contact with her. While she was still in the room Dr Zelefsky, who had gone to meet with another patient, popped back in to ask if we… had any additional questions. We are so impressed with the attitude of all of the staff members at Memorial Sloan Kettering. We have never had a better experience at any medical facility. As a recent recipient of the Brachytherapy treatment performed by Dr. Michael Zelefsky & his team of experts, may I say Bravo! The entire experience starting with a reference from the renowned urologist, Dr. Peter Scardino was absolutely reassuring & positive. As the patient the anxiety level was high but all my fears subsided as the necessary tests were administered with ease and ultimate professionalism. The service was a mark of excellence. Starting with the scheduling staff & ending with the realization ..... I was in the best facility which was providing the best care. Ultimately, Dr. Zelefsky explained the treatment & performed that treatment successfully, professionally & with kindness, consideration and the best results. Thank you to all for the wonderful care you provided. My wife tells me today, just one day after the process, I am much happier and relieved and feeling so good. I am a physician myself and was treated by Michael Zelefsky, MDover ten years ago. I found him professionally and technicallyoutstanding, and also consider him a warm, caring, dedicateddoctor. I believe anyone with a diagnosis of prostate cancer would benefit from at least a consultation with him.

Having being told you have prostrate cancer came as a big shock. I was fortunate to get an appt with Dr. Zelefsky very quickly. At our first meeting he put both myself & my wife at ease with his very calm manner. He thougherly explained our options and explained in layman terms the procedure he was going to use. I am in my 6th month since my implant & happy to say that all indications show I'm on my way to complete recovery. Dr Zelefsky is a kind man and inspires confidence in the patient at a time when the patient is most frightened and vulnerable - He is also a very good doctor. When facing cancer one has to make many difficult choices and he was always there to hear our concerns and help us make the choices we felt comfortable with
