Dr. Ziegler, known as Mick by his friends and throughout most of Longview, was born in Longview and, outside of college, he has lived in the Longview-Kelso area all of his life.

During his time attending Kelso Schools, he was active in athletics while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. Dr. Ziegler participated in State level competition for 3 consecutive years in cross country and track. As a senior, he recorded the fastest mile time in the state in 1976 (4:16).
Dr. Ziegler’s undergraduate education was completed at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma (PLU) because of its excellent pre-doctoral programs. There he continued to show his desire to excel. At PLU, Dr. Ziegler participated in cross-country and track, was named the University Scholar Athlete and was also recognized as N.A.I.A. District Scholar Athlete. He was also named to Who's Who …in American Colleges and Universities in 1980 and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. When asked about what he learned at PLU, Dr. Ziegler said, “I believe that PLU prepared me well in faith, service, and science for the rigors of dental school and dental practice.”
Dr. Ziegler chose to attend the University of Washington School of Dentistry based on the school’s outstanding academic and clinical performance. There he was honored with several academic and clinical performance awards in Operative Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Prosthodontics.
Dr. Ziegler met his wife, Roni, at UW dental school. She attended UW studying hygiene and began as his lab partner. Since graduating, they have been blessed with three wonderful children: Michael, Kristen & Katie. His favorite pastime is spending time with the family.
