Dr. Michel George Khoury, MD

I was Dr. Khoury's patient for an emergency room visit. Despite never seeing me in person (a physician's assistant worked with me directly), Dr. Michel G Khoury charged me for a procedure I never received. After I disputed the charge with evidence, Dr. Khoury refused to correct the charge and is effectively forcing me to pay for services I never received. I'd recommend working with another doctor if you are able to. There are more details below in case it's helpful to anyone. On May 17th I got into a bike accident and broke my elbow. I went to an urgent care and got an x-ray, was told it was broken, had a splint applied, and was told to go to the emergency room to have a specialist look at it. I went to the emergency room where Dr. Khoury was my attending physician, though I never saw him in person and only dealt with a physician's assistant. I was given another x-ray to confirm the break. I briefly removed and reapplied the splint I got from urgent care myself during the x-ray… process. The physician's assistant specifically told me that the splint I received at urgent care was in good working condition and a new one didn't need to be applied. They then set up an appointment the next day to see an orthopedic surgeon, which went well. Months later I received a bill for the emergency room services, which erroneously included a 357 dollar charge for "operating room services" which was defined as the application of a long arm splint. I contested this charge since a splint was never applied to me by anyone at the emergency room, because I had already received and paid for a splint application at the urgent care, which the physician's assistant at the emergency room determined didn't need to be replaced. My contesting of the charge has been repeatedly denied by the emergency room, because a splint had been ordered by Dr. Khoury, even if it was never actually applied. I've now gone through months of Kalfkaesque beauracratic limbo repeatedly contesting the charge, but each time it gets raised to the level of management, Dr. Khoury confirms that he ordered and I received a splint and I should have to pay for it, even though I and whoever the physician's assistant I worked with know that it was never applied. Despite never actually seeing his patient in person, Dr. Khoury refuses to even consider his patient's version of events.  I'd recommend working with another doctor if you are able to.
