Dr. Michele Karver Preminger, MD

It’s been almost 4 years since I’ve seen this doc but thought about her today and felt compelled to leave a review. She was recommended to me because I was going to try to get pregnant and I need to switch medications. I found her to be very rude, condescending and she would never let me speak. I would try to tell her how I was feeling and she would cut me off and tell me I was wrong. I would definitely say she is a bully And a know it all.

A friend who was treated during her pregnancy recommended me to her, but as the other reviews say, this psychiatrist is only good for pregnant women. I am a single woman struggling with anxiety and depression, but she did not seem to care much. She changed all of my medications and didn’t believe me when I told her I wasn’t feeling well. She put words into my mouth and never took the time to truly understand my issues and help me. She thought she was doing what was “best” for me, but from the moment I started seeing her, I felt ten times worse. It was almost impossible to even schedule my first appointment with her, as she was not at all accommodating and was very rude. She only works till 5 pm, so if you work a 9-5 job, you’re basicly screwed. She won’t even see you during typical breaks because she wants to be with her college-aged children. She makes it very clear that her patients are not her priority. She told me to call her if I wasn't feeling well with the medication changes,… but she wouldn’t return my calls or text messages right away (usually took her several hours; one time I didn’t get a response till 9 pm even though I texted and called her in the morning about an allergic reaction I was having to a new medication). She was very intimidating and threatened to “lock me up” or call an ambulance to bring me to the ER directly from her office. I’ve finally found a real psychiatrist who I can fully trust. He immediately changed all of the medications that Preminger put me on, and he took the time to listen to me and understand my issues, so he could better treat me. Ever since he undid all the damage and harm that Preminger caused, I have felt 100 times better! I really hit rock bottom with Preminger. She made me feel truly worthless, and the medication she put me only worsened my anxiety and depression to the point where I didn't even want to live. I shared this with my friend who recommended her, and she has even expressed some disappointment with Preminger (could be because she is no longer pregnant, so Preminger doesn’t care about her anymore). As soon as I met my new psychiatrist, he explained that a doctor is supposed to help you—not make you feel worse. He really restored my faith in psychiatrists and proved to me that there are doctors who truly care! He is extremely flexible with scheduling and he responds to calls and texts within a few minutes. He is the complete opposite of Preminger, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that!

It is nearly impossible to describe all that Dr. Preminger has done to help me. In the time I have treated with her, she has helped me to make significant positive changes in my life. She is always a phone call away, and has talked to me several times on off hours (late at night or weekends) when I needed to discuss things with her. She is an excellent doctor and a compassionate person. I have discussed incredibly personal and difficult subjects with her because she makes you comfortable to do so; and in being able to comfortably share that information I was able to grow beyond what I ever imagined possible when I first sought treatment. I recommended a friend to her, who also is also very pleased. I am a healthier person emotionally and physically because she does not let me stay in my comfort zone, but positively encourages me into much needed changes. I engaged in meaningful self-analysis in and after the sessions that have changed who I am for the better - something I would… never have been able to do without her excellent care. If you are a woman in need of a Psychiatrist - you should definitely call Dr. Preminger!

All was fine and well when I was pregnant. I met with her on a regular basis. She than referred me to a "talk therapist". I chose to discontinue that route as it was an absolute waste of time as the therapist she referred me to was very unprofessional. After giving birth PPD hit me hard. She knew this was going to happen, I have struggled with these issues in the past. She did not care one bit. Returned my first call, I explained I couldn't speak in detail at that moment because I was around other people. I call her back and she does not return my call. Called on 2 other dates following that because I needed help. She never returned those calls either. Apparently she only cares about pregnant patients. Once you have the kid you're on your own. Thank God I found treatment with another professional. He offered talk therapy in addition to medication. Oh, and actually takes my insurance. Bottom line. She seemed capable and caring, but it was just an act while I was pregnant. If you need… psychotherapy during your pregnancy find a therapist who will work with you pp.

Dr. Michele Preminger is "one of a kind." She has helped changed my life so much for the positive. She always looks at the glass as half full. She is the best psychiatrist that I ever had. Her compassion, empathy, and sincerity for her patients is like no other. What doctor do you know that calls you on her own time to just make sure that you are okay?

I have been to several psychiatrists and therapists over the years, but Dr. Preminger is clearly the best at what she does. Dr. Preminger only treats women and she is also a medical doctor with a background in OB/GYN. Therefore, she really understands! I wish I had found Dr. Preminger earlier in my life. She is outstanding!
