Dr Michele Ranno, MD

When trying to refill my triptan migraine medication, i was told i had no refills left. I asked the pharmacist to please give me floaters as I was having an attack at the moment, which they did. I called dr rano and she said I needed to come in to get a prescription, and they were filled up to over a month out. When I asked if I made the appointment if they would give me a script to hold me over until then, they said no. I have now had another attack since then and needed to go to the ER to get a script. Will be changing doctors.

Cannot believe she is in practice. Rude, sloppy, inadequate!

After almost 20 years she refused to refill my scripts because I was feeling unable to get to the office. I did not refuse help. Was told that they didn’t provide home visits and to seek it on my own. Was forced to use Dr on demand. Also, 4 years prior she did not return my husbands call to clarify a script question after I had major surgery. Was told that they generally don’t return calls unless they were emergency. I should have known then but gave benefit of the doubt. Very disappointed and have left practice.

I have been a patient of this doctor since she bought out the practice of a retiring Monroe doctor. Four years ago I moved. For four years I made the almost hour drive to continue using her. With turning 67 I realized I could not do this any more and decided to find a doctor more local to me who practiced at my local hospital. The new doctor wanted my last visit notes from Dr. Ranno for my first office visit. Because I was going on vacation I called Dr. Ranno's office over a month before my appointment with the new doctor. When I got back from vacation I realized I had no more refills on one of my prescriptions and I only had a few pills left. My local pharmacy called Dr. Ranno's office and Dr. Ranno refused to renew the prescription. Now I only asked for my last office visit notes not all my records at this point. When I heard from my pharmacy that she refused to renew the prescription, I personally called the office. I was called back and told that Dr. Ranno says I was no… longer her patient, as far as she was concerned my file was closed and she would not refill the prescription. So I went for one week without a blood pressure medication. When I told my new doctor the situation on my first appointment, he told me by law Dr. Ranno had to service me for 30 days from the point that I asked for the office notes. If something had happened to me in that week without the pills, I could have sued her. To me she just did this to be vindictive or to get even with me for leaving her practice. Very unprofessional.

I find Dr. Ranno to be very pleasant and helpful. She has helped me through and illness and also helped to ease my mind. Her staff Maggie and Dianne are the best.

What a relief to have left this practice. Poor listening skills is an understatement- I have never been to a doctor that texts as I answer her questions. On several occasions, I'd have to stop talking & wait until she was done texting & ready to listen. Apathetic. More importantly, after a health fair screening showed I needed further testing I had to beg to get it. Doctor said test wasn't warranted, wouldn't be covered by insurance and she didn't want me to complain to her when cost wasn't covered!!! After assuring her that I was OK paying for the test out of pocket if it wasn't covered, she relented and ordered it. After testing confirmed my diagnosis, I never heard from her, so I went to my ob-gyn, who was concerned with the diagnosis and immediately sent me to a specialist. That's when it became crystal clear that it was time to find a new primary care doctor that would be invested in my health care. I shouldn't have waited so long to leave!

Michele Ranno, MD is my primary physician. Since I'm a Registered Nurse, I have insight into what constitutes a great doctor - skills, care and good treatment. Dr. Ranno is always accessible, and treats me with respect and dignity. Recommended to all who want quality care from a physician.

Friendly front desk staff unfortunately cannot compensate for the appalling culture of this practice. Dr Ranno does not listen, seems not to care, and is barely articulate. So we switched to Dr Gupta. Hmmmm. While markedly more articulate and stylish than Dr Ranno, he was equally unsatisfactory. Was he angry, having a bad day, or did he just take a dislike to my 90-year-old mother? Who knows. He never looked her in the eye, never cracked a smile, and seemed eager to be elsewhere. This guy specializes in geriatric care?!? My mother was happy to have *any* attention, but I would advise prospective patients to steer well clear of this practice
