Dr. Micheline Firenze Dugue, MD

Not sure why the other ratings were so negative. They are also apparently completed by third parties and filled with conjecture. Dr. Dugue is a fine doctor who has treated me directly. She is what I imagine you'd expect - clincally - from a Psychiatrist. In addition, I've found her to be pleasant and attentive, caring for what I was saying. She actually offered me some simple advise that changed the way I way look at/approach my day-to-day grind. It's helped immensely. Please take those other reviews with a grain of salt, knowing they aren't coming from patients.

Previous reviews are accurate. My PTSD family member saw hear about 8 years ago and the lengthy reports diagnosed a suicidal, bipolar, psychotic, lost individual. A private concern on the mainland got the patient back on track until recently. Ended up in Maui delusional and homeless. Duge saw patient again and diagnosed psychotic. One week later patient was declared fine. This family member is dead 60 days after leaving Dugues “care”. Family member should have been committed to VA facility in Honolulu. Use a private psychiatrist if at all possible!!

This "psychiatrist" needs her own therapy, tho' would likely be a challenge beyond capable recovery. She is highly aggressive and confrontational - certainly not characteristics suitable to treat victims of trauma, and especially veterans. Too, it is rumored she seems "paranoid" herself, and possibly "sociopath". Said of Haitian descent, one highly regarded, prominent physician on Maui detected a "curse" in one of Dugue's former, short term clients. Best stay away from her.

There are numerous veterans who've seen her and complained to a number of veteran advocates about their experience w/her. Some have "fired" her after their first visit saying that "walking down the hall was ok, but once the door closed it was awful." She appears to be quite disturbed herself, seemingly a paranoid sociopath.
