Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I am the first person in my family to pursue a career in medicine. I graduated from community college as a RN in the late 1990's and started working in a pediatric step-down unit early in my career. I was lucky to have worked along a team of Nurse Practitioners that mentored me and encouraged me to pursue my Master's Degree in Nursing. I have always loved being a student and going back to get my Master's Degree was a slow pace - one class per semester while working part time as RN. I enjoy taking care of people.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:When I am not a work, I am almost always with my family. I have a supportive husband that helped me while I pursued my MSN and continues to be a great partner. I have 2 boys that are involved in baseball, basketball, lacrosse and school chorus. I enjoy watching them grow up and some days wish I could just stop time for awhile. I find baking and cooking to be relaxing and my boys like to help me …out in the kitchen if it involves sweet treats.
