Dr. Michelle L. Fletcher, MD

Dr Fletcher was the primary day shift hospitalist assigned to my treatment. My experience with Dr Fletcher was traumatic. And, I do not use the word "traumatic" lightly. In an effort to provide an accurate and factual account without heavy emotion, I waited almost a year to write this review. There is simply no way to convey in words the amount of physical pain I experienced while under the care of Dr Fletcher. The pain I experienced over the course of 10 days was so horrific that the memory of it is still present with me today. While I realize my case was not textbook and straightforward, a hospitalist's primary function is to manage inpatient treatment and to bring in specialists when needed. One would hope that a hospitalist would exhibit some form of intellectual curiosity when presented with a challenging case. Unfortunately, this was not the case with Dr Fletcher. Again, I do realize my case was tricky; however, Dr Fletcher's absolute refusal to bring in an ENT specialist when… requested multiple times caused additional days of extreme pain. Dr Fletcher's exact words when I asked to see an ENT specialist were, "There is nothing they would do different than what I'm doing now." This was simply not the case. It took the act of two experienced nurses to get the help required. In the end it was a simple case of a blocked salivary gland combined with a tooth infection. However, the incorrect treatment I received and lack of proper diagnosis caused the infection to run rampant resulting in $15k worth of dental damage. Northwestern's reply was simply "Dr Fletcher acted in good faith." I do not recommend Dr Fletcher and Northwestern's overall.

Obvious;y passed the State test to become an MD, they should've and should include a mandatory"people skills" course.
