Dr. Michelle Lynn Kaplan, MD

So I go in for neck pain to request an MRI after an MVA and walk out in disgust and almost embarrassed. But wait, there’s more… I just found out she diagnosed me with alcohol abuse….? I am a episodic glass of wine kind of alcohol consumer. She mentioned that my MCV (mean corpuscular Volume or size of my red blood cells was high and that there are only two reasons: “excessive alcohol consumption and b12 deficiency… and you don’t have a b12 deficiency. Wait, Did she just accuse me of something that she has no idea about and is clearly wrong? Guess what Michelle Kaplan, better watch those assumptions.. they will get you in over your head. I have had MCV >100 or on the line since I was a child. Pretty sure I wasn’t over consuming alcohol then, or now for that matter and my mother has it as well and she doesn’t drink. So then I read my EOB from insurance and there it is.. she gave me that diagnosis on my permanent health record. Clearly she thinks she knows more than she does. She said she… specializes in addiction (as I give a*€%^ at this point) , she didn’t ask what I do, I work in addiction medicine as well Michelle. I am pretty sure I am not the first or the last to have a misdiagnosis by her and if I did have an issue she sure didn’t offer any sort of treatment, just judgement and embarrassment. Like others have mentioned, this woman does not care about her appearance (sloppy, unprofessional, greasy hair - the epidemy of who you don’t want as someone who cares for themself. If she can’t take care of herself how can she take care of you? Maybe think about humbling yourself because you’re not a Provider that anyone I know would want. Horrible. And if that doesn’t get removed from my record you can count on legal action being pursued.

Reading some of the comments blow my mind. To left leaning? Im a conservative and didnt even know, or Care to know her political leanings. Dr Kaplin has been nothing but professional with me personally. She shoots from the hip and does not sugar coat stuff. She is a layed back doctor who I feel very comfortable opening up to. Never felt rushed or talked down to. Always helpful and has great plans for a better healthier me. I see people posting about how she dresses, her hair or her shoes lol. It's funny to because it never stood out to me. But then again I go to the Dr for medical reasons and don't expect Victoria Secret models diagnosing me. Great Dr. No issues at all and am thankful she is in my network

Very condenscending, doesn't listen to patient explaining their symptoms or concerns. Rude and codensending anf insults you for being 20 lbs over weight and you need to eat healthier and exercise more, but she is morbidly obese (at least 120 lbs overweight), greasy hair, body odor, dirty clothes and dirty tennis shoes. Not professionally dressed for being a physician. Kaplan walks out without a word. She doesn't say good bye, have a good day, it was nice to meet you; she just slams the exam door shut while you are still telling her your symptons and health concerns.

This Doctor cannot be trusted she puts politics above anything else. Typical lunatic leftist. My mother has received horrible care from this quack who refuses to do what’s best for my Mom. She’s arrogant and not to be trusted.

I'm currently have several problems in my body and cannot seem to get any answers. I was recommended Dr. Kaplan by a few coworkers because "she was so nice and great with patients". This was not my case. I am currently seeing a few other internal doctors that requested a thorough workup to which Dr. Kaplan basically told me I (and they) were stupid for wanting so many tests. The entire point of my appt was to get a FULL thorough check to figure out what is going on and she told me I was wrong and too young to be having these problems. I DO NOT recommend her to anyone trying to find true answers to problems. She didn't even say "nice to meet you or have a good day" as she walked out of the room.

waste of time, choose any other doctor

Don't go to Dr Kaplan if you are looking for a compassionate and optimistic approach to your healthcare.

This is the only dr. I have seen that just lays it all on the line. She doesn't sugar coat it, and doesn't just prescribe pills just because she can

After working in the medical field for more then 15 + yrs, I had never had the pleasure of being so disrespected and discriminated in my life by a so called provider. Not even took the time to look at me as to why I was there. Very bad bed side manners and ignorant.

My primary doctor was on vacation and she was unwilling to help me. She put all the onus on my primary care doctor. For two days I didn't get a call back and I had to call 4 times the first day and 3 times the second day. The office staff is wonderful however Dr. Kaplan is a horrible doctor in my opinion.
