Michelle Melvin is a certified registered nurse practitioner specializing in hematology oncology. She treats cancers, including solid tumors, lymphoma and leukemia, as well as other blood conditions like anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia, bleeding disorders and blood clotting disorders.Her main source of job satisfaction comes from her frequent patient interactions, she says, adding, "I enjoy working with all patients and their healthcare needs."Ms. Melvin earned her Master of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University, and her postgraduate certification from the University of Central Missouri. She moved to central Pennsylvania recently to continue her career of caring."I wanted a job where I could help people. In oncology, we're able to support people through a difficult time," she says.In her spare time, this native of Kansas City, Mo., enjoys hiking and spending time with her spouse and their three adult sons.
