Dr. Michelle Ann Poliak-Tunis, MD

I was injured in the line of duty in 2016. I went back to work after a torn hamstring surgery, but declined physically after that. I limped for 4 months prior to my sugery, so it messed my hip/spine up pretty bad. I had previously seen a pain specialist prior to her, and he wasn't much help. SHE absolutely LISTENED to me, and has always made me feel as though I wasn't just a 'patient', I am a person who is truly having chronic pain, without any opioids. She tries different things to help, and is completely HONEST, which I absolutely love about her! I think we are on the right road to help me deal with this, even though I'm pretty sure I will never be pain free. She is AMAZING, and her staff is the BEST! It's totally worth the 2hr drive to see her!! I appreciate her more than she knows!

She is a wonderful, caring physician! I would recommend her to anyone suffering with chronic pain.

Dr. Poliak-Tunis has been, well, my angel! I arrived at her office with this mysterious diagnosis that I had never heard of before. She was able to confirm my diagnosis. She didn't question that I was in pain. She didn't treat me like they do in the emergency room (in the emergency room, they treat you like you're looking for drugs when you come in with this pain). She had a very enthusiastic approach. She made me feel like we're going to find a solution by working together. As long as I was giving her honest information, she was going to keep trying until we found a solution. It's been a couple years now and she truly hasn't given up! Some things have worked, and others haven't. My diagnosis doesn't have a set of rules for treatment. I'm in far less pain now than when I first came to her. I would highly recommend her for pain treatment! She's the best!

I already had the diagnosis and needed a new doc to do the injection as the old one was horrible. She was very kind and answered all my questions (even the ones that seemed dumb). She is defiantly about the least amount of medication needed (like sedation/pill pain). She tries different routes like listing to music or breathing techniques for injections. I told her what I did and didn't like about my last injections and WE came up for the plan that was right for me. She warned me about everything and made sure I was ok through the whole thing. Will definitely be returning to her!

Highly unhelpful doctor who does not seem to care about finding out a diagnosis or treatment plan for her patients. Very poor communication. I had to call UW Health multiple times just to get Dr. Poliak-Tunis to give me the results of my MRI, which she did SIX DAYS after the MRI. And what's more is that the MRI indicated significant issues, yet Dr. Poliak-Tunis provided no clear treatment plan, and seemed in a rush to get off the phone with me. Highly unprofessional, and I will most certainly be finding a new care provider. Avoid at all costs.
