Dr. Michelle Soriano, MD

In 2006, Soriano attended the birth of my only child. After twelve hours of labor, with very little progress, Soriano performed an exam and declared that my son has passed his meconium. She stated that I had thirty minutes to deliver before she would have to perform a c-section. We never saw her again. Three hours after Soriano declared that I had thirty minutes to deliver, a different and competent, obstetrician, who was called in from home, examined me, stated that because my son was in distress, we needed an immediate c-section. Let me emphasize...my son remained in toxic amniotic fluid for three hours after Soriano confirmed that he passed his meconium. When my son was delivered by the highly qualified OB who came to our rescue, he was not breathing. My son's APGAR scores were low and he remained in NICU for five days. My placenta was infected and I, in turn, developed an infection. My son is healthy, thank goodness! This experience still haunts me and my… husband, who witnessed all it except the birth of our child (the delivering OB refused to allow my husband in the operating room). Was Soriano to blame for the risk that my son and I were put in during his delivery and the health complications that followed? Absolutely. Her negligence is why I refuse to ever attach a medical title to her name.
