Dr. Midesha Pillay, MD

My mother passed away recently at NHRMC & was in the hospital 3 full weeks. She transitioned into comfort care (Hospice) at the hospital her last week of life. The nurses were instructed to give her morphine & adovan as needed to keep her comfortable. For the most part, the nurses were very attentive & caring, but I had to request them the first few days of her last week. We had one day nurse who seemed to be too busy with other patients & I was having a hard time getting her to keep up with the meds. I could tell my mother was in pain, but it took forever for the nurse to respond. During the 7pm shift change, the night nurse was in the room with the day nurse for the transition. I asked the day nurse if she felt my mother was in pain because my mother's eye brows were scrunched up & she was moving around. The day nurse said patients act like this sometimes & it was normal. Then they left the room. I knew she was experiencing pain. Then all of a sudden, Dr Pillay magically… appeared in the doorway! God sent her to us at that late stressful evening. She check my mother out & quickly went into action getting pain medication in her room within minutes. Dr. Pillay said that her organs were shutting down & she was definitely in pain. We really didn't have any problems thereafter, but many kudos to Dr. Pillay who saved the day for us! She was SO polite, caring, & compassionate! Can't thank her enough! She works in Dr. Mary Rudyk's office.
