Dr. Miguel Angel Arenas, MD

I never met Dr. Arenas. I only saw his PA, Jackie. She was rude, unprofessional, and vey hostile. At one point, she got inches near my face to yell because I refused to take some medication she prescribed. She wanted me to have an Endoscopy with Dr. Arenas but when I asked about seeing him I was informed that she was"quite qualified" and that I would only see her. After the results of my endoscopic MRI came in, someone under her called me to tell me that "if I had any more pain I should get a laproscopic endoscopy" She couldn't answer any of my questions. Luckily I had a copy of my exam results, which were inconclusive and brought them to another doctor.

Arenas and company invite the worst descriptions of modern medicine. Don't mind seeing a nurse practitioner, if she communicated with the doctor. Doctor did not review records before procedure, prescribed incorrect (allergic reaction) meds after (hastily crossed out to save skin when pointed out), missed an important diagnosis, didn't communicate with primary care physician. Patient died within a month from something Arenas should have caught then or at follow-up visit in hospital. How on earth did he get a rating of 3.7 stars? Friends? Just the absolute worst!! Greed, uncaring, unthinking, doing it all by rote, not patient-centered, has blinders on.

Jackie didn't listen to a thing I said, didn't even listen to the main reason I was there and ordered an endoscopy that has nothing to do with ascites!

Everyone will treat you with respect and kindness. Dr. Arenas has two competent and knowledgeable nurses who will see you before scheduling any procedure. Note, this is REQUIRED by insurance. I see Shelby Coplen, PA-C and I highly recommend her too. You will see Dr. Arenas before your procedure and again afterwards when he will carefully explain his findings and you will leave with a full-color report. His surgery staff is truly exceptional, very kind and attentive. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Dr. Arenas and Mesquite Gastroenterology.

The only time you will see the doctor is after the procedure. The first and follow up visits are handled by NPs. Tried to get an appointment with the doctor and was told he does not make patient appointments.

If you want great quality health care, do not go to Miguel Arenas or his office. They will not listen to what you are saying or hear what you have said. You will be diagnosed with cancer before you know what hit you.

I can't believe so many people say the same thing. I totally agree. I wanted to see the doctor not Jackie who was brusque and not what I wanted. Had Colonoscopy and EGD and that went fine But did not like to the NP and not the doc. Better change because so many people say the same thing.

I want to see a doctor not be interviewed by a nurse practitioner and then possibly having to come back to speak with the doctor. I also want a doctor who is not too busy to spend time getting to know his patient and the patients problem.

My 83 year old mom was very ill. I made her a appointment and she had to see the nurse . The nurse never even gave her a physical exam! Sent her home with RX for protonix and scheduled a GI for 2 weeks later! Had to take mom to ER 3 days later, she had a total blockage and acites that could have been seen on a exam. Come to find out she was full of colon cancer! They couldn't save her she passed 3 weeks later.but if a proper exam was done she wouldn't have suffered! This doctor will be sorry for not taking time to see HIS patients!
